We recently connected with Natalie Hartman and have shared our conversation below.
Natalie , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I have always wanted to be my own boss. Prior to starting my business I worked in the medical field for 13 years, educating and selling procedures for plastic surgeons. I have to give credit to my mother-in- law for helping me come up with the idea to start the business. We were enjoying a family dinner and I brought up wanting to start my own business, but I did not know where to begin or what type of business to start. She suggested that I would be a great home stager/designer. I knew what a designer was, but had no idea what a career as a home stager involved. That was the start of how Morphe Home Staging & Design came to fruition.
Natalie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Natalie Hartman, the owner of Morphe Home Staging & Design. We are a premium home staging and design company that transforms homes by delivering unique and creative insights on both interior and exterior spaces.
I am dual certified in home staging and a member of the only accredited home staging program, the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA®). I completed my initial training through the nationally recognized Staging Diva program, then furthered my education by becoming Home Staging Resource (HSR) certified in staging and redesign. I am currently completing my 4th certification in short term rental design.
We help take the stress out of the home selling process. The goal is to create beautifully staged homes for a faster sale with maximized profits. We transform homes by decluttering and bringing in furniture, artwork, and accent decor to help homebuyers understand the potential of every room. When buyers walk through your home, they will be able to imagine the house as their own. In addition, we specialize in redesign of homes. We offer custom design packages that are tailored to the clients needs, whether it is one room or an entire home design, or turn key short term rental design and renovation design management.
I have a hunger for growth and am always striving to become the best in what I do. I am thankful for the clients I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and I will continue to dedicate my all to providing outstanding service and exceptional results.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I was familiar with social media from a personal standpoint, but building a business social media presence is something I taught myself and learned over time. At a minimum, I knew it was valuable and necessary to create a business page account on the main platforms. I started by following who I believed would be my main consumers- realtors, investors, builders, etc. Once I connected with them, I then reached out to introduce myself and my company via private messenger. I also engaged with them through commenting on their posts which helped keep my presence active and my business name fresh in their minds. However, social media platforms continue to evolve, and I still have so much more to learn and will continue to absorb as much as I can.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Coming from a sales background where my goal was to close all leads, I started my business with the same mentality. In the beginning, I would do anything to gain a client. One of the mistakes I made was lowering pricing or making exceptions. To a certain extent that is fine to do to get the experience and to build a new business. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that not every lead would be beneficial for my business. Understanding if the view was worth climb was an important lesson I had to learn. I value what I bring to the table and I don’t sacrifice on the quality of my work.
