We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nardin Hermiz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Nardin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?

Success comes from believing in yourself. If you have the confidence to go after your dreams, then there is no such thing as failure. Failure comes from not trying.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am the owner of Uptown Medispa Arrowhead. I am a Registered nurse and started my career in the trauma and cardio as intensive care unit in downtown Phoenix. After almost ten years of working bedside, I started my own practice in medical aesthetics. The thing that I’m most proud of is the family that I have. I have been with the love of my life since I was seventeen and we’ve created the most beautiful family. My son and daughter are my greatest achievement and I’m constantly motivated by them to strive for greatness.

Uptown Medispa is an independently owned franchise with Arrowhead being its first franchisee. We have a location in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Chandler, and Prior Lake, MN. Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Not many know this about me but I was born in Iraq and came to America with my family as an immigrant. I was only five but I remember, in great detail, the danger my parents experienced to get us to a new home where my sister and I would be free to make our dreams a reality. They both worked so hard to provide an easy future for us and it’s because of them I became so resilient. I wouldn’t let their sacrifice go unrecognized.

Any advice for managing a team?

The best advice I can give on how to manage a team and maintain high morale is finding team members that love what they do. They need to have the passion to be successful because that’s something that cannot be taught or forced upon. As a leader/owner, your team seeks recognition and validation. We all love to be appreciated and when you genuinely give that to your employees, it allows them to appreciate you and the opportunities you given them..
