We caught up with the brilliant and insightful NAKELTBG a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
NAKELTBG, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
For as long as I can remember I’ve been a lover of art, all forms of art ranging from film, fashion, music, art, architecture to music. However, when it comes to creation you’ll find me bouncing between music, art and fashion.
I’ve been sketching and painting all sorts since i was a toddler but i’ve been making and releasing music professionally since 2018

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m NAKELTBG (pronounced nay-kel-ti-bi-dʒi) a Neo Expressionist artist, Creative Director, Singer and Rapper whose music bridges the gap between nostalgic rhythms and modern production.
As the founder of Cxndie Collective, our goal is the creation of a space where individuality and collaboration coexist. A place where creativity thrives through connection and shared expression.
So I believe an effective way to describe myself is a multidisciplinary creative from whose work moves fluidly between music, visual art, fashion and film.
I infuse African elements within my songs regardless of whatever sound I work on. Whether it be drums, cadence, Pidgin or the Yoruba language.
Being African deeply influences how I approach art as well, the culture of our continent is rich in rhythm, symbolism, and storytelling. The figures and shapes in my art may appear strange, but together they tell a story about the human experience.
As a creative I find various ways to explore how identity can be expressed beyond sound and image, as well as within it.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I know it was the rave of the monument a couple years ago, but I honestly don’t have enough info about NFTs to properly speak on it

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The ability to bring ideas to life and the process of creating, whether it be music or an art piece. I love when the finished product comes out exactly as I envisioned it, especially if I improvised along the way
