Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nadine Kostine. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Nadine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
When I decided to go study and pursue acting professionally in the US, I faced many unexpected issues and challenges on my path that I had to overcome. Looking back at it now, I realize that each challenge I encountered on my way, was only meant to make me stronger.
When I turned 16, I was accepted to one of the top arts high school theatre programs in the US with a talent scholarship and that’s how my American journey begun. Without having any family in the country to rely on, I had to grow up fast and adjust to the new world I happily embraced. Overcoming language barrier, culture shock and homesickness, I fully dedicated myself to rehearsals, acting and dialect training. I never thought I could be cast in American shows and act in a foreign language but here I was standing on the stage of a production “Vanya, Sonya, Masha and Spike” performing the monologue of Cassandra. I learned that hard work turns obstacles into opportunities and only further motive you. There were many times when I thought “No, I can’t take a train to NYC from Boston all by myself in a foreign country to do my college auditions, I’ve never done it! Or I’m not gonna get into Chapman, or there’s no way I’m getting cast on an Apple TV show, and boom! The next thing you know you’re just doing it.
You pass the audition, get into your dream school and film for “Physical” alongside Rose Byrne.
I believe in life you have to overcome inner fears and self-doubt to pursue your dreams or else you’ll just stay in the same spot.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a professional actress and model with Russian-Ukrainian roots.
I worked for brands as KATTA, O’Shade, Faberlic and was in such magazines as Cosmopolitan (Russia). Besides print, I shot for music videos “Desert Flower Interlude with Fleece Kawasaki ” that’s been featured on Universal City Walk and “Movie” with Blake Rose (140k views). I was also fortunate to work on many award-winning short films including “Sonora” that received many nominations and awards at such film festivals as the Beverly Hills Film Festival, Hollywood Just 4 Shorts and San Diego International Film Festival.
My most recent work includes a featured role in an Apple TV+ series “Physical” with Rose Byrne (Season 3, Ep.4).

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The fact that I do what I’m truly passionate about brings tremendous joy and a sense of fulfillment. It’s always the best day when I’m on the set! For me, it’s a freeing feeling of self-expression, and it’s great to experience it with other creatives. I’m always open to creating new stories and projects together. I love working with people that are passionate about their craft.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think a lot of people don’t realize that entertainment business is a really tough place, and that being an actor requires great resilience, hard work, and patience. You can do your best work, submit dozens of audition tapes, be put on hold for a project, and don’t hear anything back. Then you question yourself, “Am I good enough? Why am I not booking? Maybe it’s not my thing?”. And sometimes the reason why you didn’t get cast can be simple- the project didn’t get enough funding, but you won’t know it. The truth is that 90% of the time you hear “No” so an actor has to build that resilience and perseverance to keep going. It can be really hard psychologically to handle constant rejection and uncertainty.
