We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nader Bakier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nader thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Well, I create music in my spare time actually. I do (or did) have regular jobs in the past.. from information technology to electrical engineering to freelance technical work, I have done the 8-5 jobs for many many years (over 30) .. but I always managed to find some time to focus on creating something new with music.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, My name is Nader, I go by the creative name “NaderGator” because it simply rhymes and it also has my first name in it. I have been producing music for so many years. My music repertoire includes over 150 tracks so far between songs, beats or just instrumentals. I am always creating something new musically, whether its an instrumental or a full song with lyrics I write myself or collaborate with others (whatever inspires me). I always like to come up with new ideas and new sounds while at the same time trying to stay with current trends. my tracks have been listed in commercial libraries and I hope that some of them will be used in TV or film in the near future. I have many fans and followers on TikTok that are already using my commercial-tracks for the videos they create .. (over 15 million so far and still growing) and I am very grateful for that, It makes me very happy when people enjoy listening to the tracks I create.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my opinion, I think creatives should support each other. We are all a one society regardless of borders. An unfortunate trend I see a lot of social media is that some people will support you initially but after a while they loose interest in your news and they stop following you, another trend I see also is people will not follow you unless you follow them back, it should not be like this! Social media is all about connecting people, supporting and learning from one another.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
Well, I am still undecided about NFT’s .. some say it’s the next big thing others say it’s was just a bubble. I had an agency based out in Los Angeles that wanted me to get involved in NFT’s a while back for my popular song “Mechanic Shop” but I still wasn’t sure about it so I didn’t really pursue it, I don’t regret it, because the last time I checked I found some articles regarding NFT’s saying that some people are stuck with assets that they can not sell or trade anymore, but who knows, maybe it’s just a minor setback and NFT’s will come back stronger, I am not an expert on this matter unfortunately.
