We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Myrlaun Walker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Myrlaun thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
As a boutique creative agency, we focus on artist development. We feel one of the main reasons there is such a gap in the market with successful musicians is due to the fact that there is a lack of resources offered to them. Just because you are a talent, we don’t think you should be forced to do it all on your own in order to get discovered. Everyone has their own gifts and are able to excel at different facets. REVAMPED PR & Management was created to be a one stop shop for artists at any level to be successful. Equipped with a team of experts in fashion styling, branding, publicity, marketing and management, the opportunity with us is endless. Essentially our model is to grow with our talent.

Myrlaun, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was a Wardrobe Stylist Assistant for the Fashion Editor at Forbes Magazine and he really was the person who pushed me into believing I could do PR. With the skills I learned in college accompanied with my natural personality, publicity was just something that fit me perfectly. I’ve always had a love for fashion, media and music which paired with skills in literature, made working in the entertainment space an organic fit. I focus on solving the problems within creating, nurturing and maintaining a brand. Some of the work I’m the most proud of are working alongside Janelle Boumel for the Spotify Secret Genius Awards and most recently getting Saweetie in Forbes Magazine.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media is all about consistency and quality. A few things that also helped boost my following outside of that were creative partnerships with other likeminded individuals mixed with posts with people I work with.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Maintaining a great work ethic and just doing good by people have really helped my reputation in this industry. It’s such a small world that it’s important to keep your nose clean. Majority of my business has been based off of reputation and word of mouth.
