We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mykyta Ovsiannikov. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mykyta below.
Mykyta, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Recently, I finished working on a project I had been involved with for 2 years. It consists of 4 series of posters about cities in Ukraine. The idea was to capture the identity of these cities through fragments I found: whether it be facade decorations, fortifications, mosaics, stained glass, architecture, or graffiti. The work was done using screen printing technique. As a visual solution, I chose graphic collage, thus intersecting with the perception of the city as layers of frozen time with their artifacts. The motive behind the creation of this project was the Russian aggression against my country and the destruction of my hometown, as well as the gradual destruction of other cities in Ukraine. Each series is dedicated to a specific city that I am connected to (where I lived, studied). The goal of the project is to preserve the material evidence of cities that are at potential risk of disappearing.”

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Mykyta. I’m 27 years old, and I am a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer. I started by studying industrial design but soon realized that I didn’t have an engineer’s mindset, so I switched to graphic design and taught myself.
I offer a wide range of services, including illustrations, covers, clothing prints, logos, mascots, and posters. What fascinates me most about graphic design is its artistic side—especially when working with exhibition spaces, musicians, and artists.
I find working with musicians the most exciting, as music is my greatest passion. It’s always intriguing to see how different worlds collide, creating an eclectic product while listening to unreleased material.
What I’m most proud of is working with like-minded enthusiasts and designing a vinyl cover for my favourite experimental musician—one that hasn’t been released yet.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I don’t have a specific goal because having one would mean stopping—bringing my work to an end.
I love what I do, so I resonate with the concept of a path without a destination, guided by observation. The shifting states of society, events, crises, and upswings—all of these inspire reflection, which means you keep creating. And so, it goes on for as long as life allows

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most enjoyable aspect of creativity is training your sense of observation and experiencing synergy with other artists.
