We recently connected with Morgan Tyner and have shared our conversation below.
Morgan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I’m probably the most curious person and I know. That curiosity and passion has guided me on so many pivots and paths in my life. Soul searching for a while, at first I couldn’t discover the source of my passion. I just knew that every single day, I hoped to make a real difference. For awhile, I struggled to trust myself. To trust my gut and God’s plan. I strived to feel truly aligned. I now realize that my old world was so small! And the more I released what no longer served me the bigger my world became! I was craving to hold space for people to become their truest selves, too. I wanted to stand out, be understood for how much I care, and be taken seriously. I wanted to interact and identify with everyone, in every room I entered, on a deeper level.
Some background:
SomatIQ™ Breathwork found me. I’d been in the blogging industry for five years. When I started my business, the hustle/boss babe culture was on the rise. It was all about how much you could hustle and “show up”. It didn’t matter if you lost sleep, friends, family, rest, or even yourself. Your respect in the industry was primarily based on that hustle. This thought-process focused on how much you could “master your mindset”.
January 2022, I had a realization that this hustle mindset got me to a point of success, but it won’t lead me to where I want to be. I was terrified. My husband and I spent summer 2022 living in Sevilla, Spain. While there, I had a lot of time to reflect. I felt incredibly dissociated from my body. Coming back to Fairhope from Spain, I felt more mis-aligned than ever. One afternoon, I got on YouTube and came across a daily five minute SomatIQ™ Breathwork Meditation. I felt the Holy Spirit loudly say, “click play, Morgan.” So, I did.
It’s been over two years since that day, and I am now a fully trained and certified SomatIQ™ Breathwork practitioner offering guided breathwork sessions in both English and Spanish. It is my greatest honor to hold space for people in such a sacred, freeing modality. It’s especially an honor to give back to the local community. I’m a firm believer that giving back starts local. This work is truly a way to help people reconnect inward and heal.
I’m currently the only certified SomatIQ™ Breathwork practitioner in the state of Alabama and Mississippi. SomatIQ™ Breathwork liberates people from the stress and overwhelm that lies unprocessed in our body so that we become free in our mind. It’s an embodiment experience that takes you out of your thinking mind and into your body’s electrical network via two common breathing techniques. By doing so, you are able to release unneeded energy within this network caused by repeating thoughts, feelings, and old narratives via various expressions (laughing, movement, crying, yelling, shaking, etc). This breathwork truly gives you back the power. It reminds your body that breathing is a natural tool for self-regulation to maintain a state of calm and self-awareness. Breathwork is an ancient medicine that is of the body, natural, and God-given.
I’m also now a published children’s book author. In the book, I share a piece of this journey to more hope, alignment, and peace – and how you can have the same in your life, going after your callings. My book, “Butterfly Fly”, at its core, is a wellness-centric story that incorporates Biblical themes while focusing on my childhood (and adult) journey to cultivating more self-awareness, hope, & freedom in life. My intention is to teach children how to self-regulate & worship with their breath. Children and adults alike will love this book!
Morgan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I answered some of this on my last question :).
***I offer in-person wellness pop-ups (sometimes collaborative with other wellness modalities) both locally + around the country / globe (when I am traveling). In these pop-ups, I typically provide one of the following:
OPTION 1: SomatIQ™ Breathwork Journey (60 minutes of breathwork + 15 minute intro & 15 minute closing / sharing opportunity) 90 minutes TOTAL.
OPTION 2: SomatIQ™ Breathwork Reset (30 minutes of breathwork + 15 minute intro & 15 minute closing / sharing opportunity) 60 minutes TOTAL.
OPTION 3: SomatIQ™ Breathwork Daily Practice (10 minutes of breathwork 5 minute intro & 5 minute closing / sharing opportunity) 20ish minutes TOTAL.
***I offer monthly, virtual (small) group SomatIQ™ Breathwork Journey sessions. I’ve had people join these sessions from all around the world.
***I offer sessions in any of the above forms for Corporate / Small Business brands & organizations! Both in-person OR virtually. LOVE these types of sessions!
***As for my book, I am doing book signings & readings – incorporating some easy / fun breathing exercises for kids!
***I have also started something called “Wellness Field Trips” where I go around trying up-and-coming wellness spots. I then share Reels or info to my email list about these spots!
I’m most proud of my ability to trust my gut & God-given callings. It’s okay to pivot. Life is SO SHORT! I want my audience and clients to know that a fully aligned mind / body / soul DOESN’T have to be complicated or scary. It’s all about what you do repeatedly, not what you do just sometimes. Also, community is KEY. Holding space for one another is how we heal. Grief demands a witness. You don’t have to carry the weight of the world, you can let it go. I am a huge advocate for freedom, connection, and empowerment within. We each have something unique & powerful to offer this world, we just have to move what’s in the way, little by little.
What sets me apart? My empathy & that I am a HSP (highly sensitive person) which spelled backwards is PSH (perfect space holder). That combined with all the years of accumulated training + wisdom on nervous system regulation, breathwork, & mind / body healing makes me standout among others. Also, my bilingual abilities and diverse cultural background adds to that. I have Chilean heritage in my family, as well.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
NETWORK. I am the only one of my kind with SomatIQ Breathwork in my area. While that has been very challenging / has felt lonely at times – it also is a powerful opportunity to build rapport and pave the way with integrity. Go around town, walk in a store and tell them who you are. Research businesses in your area and contact the owners. Go try out some services (i.e “Wellness Field Trips” I am doing) to show mutual support. Many people want to know you – they just might not know where to find you. Go to THEM. Don’t just wait for them to find you. In-person, intentional conversation is unbeatable. I also recommend hand-written thank you / connection notes. There is an art to that, which I hope never fully dies.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn people-pleasing. You will never be everyone’s ideal resource / “cup of tea” and you shouldn’t be. You must set boundaries for yourself and your business offerings. At first, I was offering breathwork sessions to anyone – I just wanted to get the reps in. I quickly learned how worn down I was becoming. While I am grateful for this lesson, it taught me to zero-in my focus and intention. Be clear on what I offer + why. Set boundaries on communication with clients / potential clients (you don’t have to be available 24/7, 365). Setting clear boundaries will bring longevity to your craft. It will also make you feel more at peace and clear. AND it will communicate trust to yourself & your clients.

Wow, what a strong story on how someone is making such an impact on the wellness community outside of diet and exercise. It’s so important to keep your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being in check and Morgan seems to be doing that so well and teaching others the same. Great article!

I had no idea what breath work was just a year ago. She’s spot on on how it brings more alignment and relief on the day to day.
