Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Morgan Tuilovoni. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Morgan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My husband Joseph and I have been in youth ministry for the past 10 years. Something we would continually to see in youth students was regardless of where they went to school (private or public) the common theme was they were incredibly influenced by their peers and what culture was telling them. We saw students as amazing as they were, lacked the confidence to go against the grain and stand up for what was right for fear of not fitting in.
This idea of building a school that focuses on creating a strong foundation in a child’s formative years: ages 0 to 5 came about when we were pregnant with our first born son. It was then we started asking ourselves, how do we get our son to high school and him be confident in his ability to lead his peers positively. Our goal in building this school was to help create in our son this sense of purpose that he can make a difference even at his young age and that he doesn’t have to follow the crowd to fit in. We felt in order to develop this confidence we needed to develop the leader within him. In the process we found that a lot of other parents wanted this as well, so we began building a school that focused on raising up leaders.

Morgan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are on a mission to raise up Christ-like leaders who are a light in the world. “Petite Lumière” means “little light.” We encourage our students to be a light wherever they go – in their school, their families, their friendships, and their sports teams. Children may be little, but their life has immeasurable worth and value with the ability to positively change the world.
We accomplish our mission by impacting one child, one parent, and one teacher at a time. The intentional care we provide for each person in the educational community sets us apart as a school.
We value every “one” and believe:
One child who grows in wisdom, stature, and favor will be a light in the world.
One parent who feels seen, supported, and connected will be a light in the world.
One teacher who is loved, valued, and believed in will be a light in the world.

Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?
Petite Lumière Prep School is the second school my husband and I have built. Our first school was a small in-home childcare called Little World Changers. When we started Little World Changers we could only take six students a day and within a year our waitlist grew to 70 students simply by word of mouth. It was at our in-home childcare where we focused on individualized care and raising up confident leaders at the earliest age.
For us, our value has never been in the numbers of our schools or how big we could scale them. The value we provide has always been in the individual care we can provide for each child. The way we run our beautiful private school now is how we ran our in-home childcare when we only had six students.
It was at Little World Changers where we built the foundation of Petite Lumière. Our handbook is simply a compilation of four years of real life experience from running Little World Changers.
Little World Changers merged into Petite Lumière Prep School in 2023. The prep school officially opened in April of 2024. My husband and I still have the honor of leading the school together. Petite Lumière was opened under the umbrella of our church Shoreline City. We have loved being in this beautiful partnership with our pastors. Being under the umbrella of Shoreline has allowed us to expand the school and offer this amazing care to more families in the DFW area.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Joseph and I have been planted at Shoreline City Church since 2016. It was here we had the honor of being youth pastors and running along side our pastors for years in many different capacities.
It’s difficult to put into words how grateful we are for our pastors. They truly see potential in people unlike anyone we’ve ever met. It’s been such an honor to build Petite Lumière under their leadership.
