We were lucky to catch up with Hector Osorio & Enrique Pereira also known as MORENO recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hector and Keekeh, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
PÄCHI, our upcoming experience, originated from pop-up gatherings but has since evolved into what we like to call a micro-festival. What makes PÄCHI special is its ability to seamlessly blend various art forms, creating an immersive experience where music is just one aspect of a larger, multifaceted event. Its appeal lies in its unique approach to both ambiance and execution, going beyond the typical music festival setup. Yet, what truly gives PACHI its heart and soul is the team behind it—comprised of our closest friends who have shared the vision and purpose since the beginning. These are the individuals who’ve stood steadfastly by us, believing in the concept from the get-go and ready to defend it through thick and thin. The name PÄCHI carries significant weight as it’s derived from RORI’s nickname, adding a personal touch and deeper meaning to the concept beyond mere revelry—it’s a testament to friendship, creativity, and a shared commitment to something greater.
Hector and Keekeh, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
MORENO is our brainchild, one that was born after working together on various projects and realizing we had something special waiting to be tapped into as a duo. We can still remember the exact day where we decided to give it a go: the vision came at the now closed Treehouse in between sets of a night we were both hosting, “why don’t we try out a concept called MORENO with us as a duo?”. The immediate answer was, “Yes!”. And much like anything we do, we moved forward 110% invested in the concept; and here we are, a little over two years after that night, still going at it with more ambition than ever.
Individually, our paths have been quite different but we do share a lot of common points in our lives. Which is what we believe really brings us together. As cliche as it may sound, we are a true reflection of Ying and Yang. We provide each other with a much needed balance in what is truly cutthroat industry, beautiful, but very demanding. Along the way, we have both learned to play off each other’s strengths while also and most importantly, supporting each other in our weaknesses.
It really is hard to strictly define MORENO’s style. We are truly a melting pot. We gravitate towards anything and everything that sets a dance floor on fire as long as it reflects and communicates a positive and upbeat vibe: our main goal is to have people connect with us and feel truly in the moment.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
From a holistic perspective, we have come to realize that there’s always more than meets the eye. However, what’s truly crucial is staying true to ourselves. Throughout our career journey, we have encountered numerous scenarios where our style didn’t quite fit or where we felt the pressure to adapt our personalities to fit certain communities. But in the end, nothing is more valuable than remaining authentic to who we are and our unique style. When we fully express our true selves, people resonate with us and our art, allowing us to ride the wave we want to ride.
Looking at it more technically, having knowledge is super important. Teach yourself and focus on learning because there are folks out there who will pretend to know everything when they really don’t. You can usually tell from a mile away. It might stress you out, but usually, those people don’t stick around unless they start investing in learning. Make sure you really understand what you’re doing and what you’re talking about because all it takes is one chat with someone who knows their stuff to make your dreams happen. But if they catch you making things up or pretending, it could be the end of the line.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our shared goal is to travel the world and spread our music. We’re eager to contribute to society by using music to break people out of their daily routines. Music, for us, is like therapy, and we’re firm believers that our energy can resonate with others when we perform, transporting them to a place where nothing matters but the present moment. Additionally, we’re passionate about supporting the local scene and nurturing the growth of young artists, helping them reach their ultimate goals. We understand that pursuing a career in the arts can be a rollercoaster ride, but we’re committed to creating a roadmap that provides local artists with a platform to showcase their talents and thrive. In the end, we see ourselves as one big, happy family, and we firmly believe that there’s enough success to go around for everyone.
