We recently connected with Monique Turley and have shared our conversation below.
Monique, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
After spending 15 years in corporate America and being laid off, I landed at a wedding where I saw a photo booth. I quickly opened a franchise in Tampa which grew very quickly. However lucrative it is, it was just very stressful dealing with weddings and equipment. I felt like I was always works. I seen a family member get body contouring done and decided that was something I would look into. After taking a licensing class in Atlanta, I discovered I needed an Esthetics license to use the machine. I quickly enrolled in beauty school and fell in complete LOVE with the world of skin, skin health, self care and beauty in all areas (Face & Body), especially for ethnic skin.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Monique Turley and I own Luxe Face & Body Spa in Tampa, Florida. I help people look and feel better by providing outstanding service for the face & body. My full service spa offers Facials, Microneedling, Chemical Peels, Body Contouring, Waxing, VSteam, Vajacials, Lash Extensions, Massage Therapy and more. While Luxe Face & Body treats all skin types and conditions we have advanced training with treating multicultural skin.
I have tripled the size of my spa and income in the past three years employee several Estheticians, Massage Therapists and Permanant Makeup Artists. I land look forward to opening Luxemore Beauty Acadamy in 2023 to offer education to those looking to become Licensed in Esthetics in the State of Florida.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think it’s important to be compassionate. Many clients come to our spa to treat face and body concerns, but many come simply for self-care treatment, and to unplug from the world.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think being a savvy business is key. My prior experience as an Entrepreneur helped make the transition to owning a spa easy. However, my 15+ years in corporate America also taught me things like project management, customer service and dealing with multiple personalities.
