Alright, Mollie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?

Being a business owner is great. Since the first day we decided to do this, we’ve never looked back. Both my husband and I came in with a corporate background, and we just hit the ground running. We told ourselves there was no looking back. Of course, there were times at the beginning where there were ups and downs. But every time we questioned anything, we just kept moving forward. We went in with the mentality to do whatever it takes to make this work. I don’t really wonder about having another regular job because I can’t see myself doing anything else.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Payroll Vault was founded and based in Colorado. Now with over 60 franchises in the US and Virgin Islands we are an independently owned and operated full-service payroll franchise. My husband, David and I have owned and operated the North Metro Denver franchise located in Arvada, Colorado since 2018. We partner with small business owners to provide them with full-service payroll and workforce management solutions. We are live, local and love to provide our clients with the peace of mind they need to focus on running their business, supporting their teams and providing a healthy work environment. We take pride in helping to build a healthy, compliant business community and stay active and involved, providing education and advocacy through many different channels. Today there are more laws that impact business owners than ever before in history. It is imperative that they find a local partner to hep them navigate the ever changing landscape of employee compliance. We provide the systems, acumen and vested referral network in a completely customized and hands on way.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

We work almost exclusively off of referrals. The best introduction comes from a satisfied client, and we’re proud that we’ve been able to build that up. We are focused on local businesses, and that’s why we have built up our network around that. We work with a lot of small business owners, and build their solutions on a case-by-case basis. We’re an independently owned franchise, so we’re in the same boat with them. We built our business on the word of mouth from satisfied customers, by focusing on local, local, local. We’ve worked to build a large network of referral partners to bring more to our clients. We bring more than just our services. Working with us means you’re working with everyone we know, and that’s why clients trust us to introduce us to their friends they think we can help, too.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

We are so focused on referral-based business, one of the big things that helped us was getting more involved with our local communities. We’re on the Board of Directors for the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, and are on the Arvada Economic Development Association’s Retention Committee. We do a lot of networking to try and be more of a resource for our clients. And our clients know that. Getting out there and building up a great network of trusted partners has helped us deliver a higher quality of service. Another key was keeping in touch with our clients. We always have a finger on the pulse of what’s going on with them, and that’s something they might not get when working with one of our competitors. You’re not calling an 800 number and hoping someone might have an answer. You’re calling a real, local number that is going to be answered by a real, local person that’s going to help you immediately. Providing that kind of attention has gone a long way in showing our clients that we’re on their side, that we’re here to help, and we’re not going anywhere.
