Alright, Modupe thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

My Brand “Lofinda Luxury” is A fusion of my Nigerian – American Culture. Lofinda In Yoruba ( my tribe) means “Scented/ Perfume. Essentially My brand os Scented Luxury. A Unique fusion of fragrances that trigger feel good emotions.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Modupe Babalola and I am the owner of Lofinda Luxury Candles .Lofinda Luxury is a fusion of my Nigerian/ American culture mixing unique fragrances to trigger feel good emotions. Not only are my fragrances unique, my vessels are design to add a luxurious touch to your home. They can also be reused as a jewelry jar or candy dish. Fits with almost any decor. You’re elevating your self care experience with Lofinda Luxury.

I started my business in November 2022 , its been an amazing year of growth and continuous learning. My love for fragrances stemmed from admiring my mom growing up. As a little girl I witnessed my mom mix and match fragrances anytime she was preparing to leave the house. My mom migrated from Nigeria in the early 80’s. If its one thing I learned from her is that if you smell good, you look good, Ultimately you feel good.

I started doing pop ups at West Elm 4 months into me starting my business and it has been the best opportunity to get brand awareness. Since then I’ve added Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma & Bloomingdales to my list of stores a frequently do popups. My goal is to be in higher end stores nation and internationally. As I’ve shipped orders to Nigeria & Canada as well.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

I meet the majority of my clients in person when I have pop-ups. I love pop-ups because I get to actually meet people who love my candles. I love seeing their reactions when they first smell it or when they smile and tell me where or who their favorite candle scent reminds them of.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

“The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck” by Mark Manson literally changed my life. Though I am in a consistent state of growth Mark’s approach on how to move and think with intentions shaped me as a person. Which I exercise not just in my personal life but also as an entrepreneur. Starting with how I interact with customers to how I handle I handle a heavy work load. I think its super important to find balance within yourself. When you are the best version of yourself you have everyone around you with the same level of respect and understanding.
