We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Misty Rauscher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Misty below.
Misty, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I had been a professional doula for 12 years and one particular evening I sat across from a couple getting ready to have their first baby. Instead of talking about stages of labor, comfort measures, or when to go to the hospital, we dove into the break down in communication within their marriage and made a bucket list of dates they wanted to do before the baby came. I knew in that moment, my gift for helping people went far beyond the delivery room and was needed for every woman who wanted to life a happier life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, my name is Misty, I am a mom to 5, married to my husband for 20 years, and a transformational life coach. I spent 12 years helping families bring new babies into the world as a labor doula, but what I really loved is helping them define and achieve a goal, and step into a larger self concept then they ever felt possible. I have been a transformational life coach ever since. One of my favorite stories of transformation is a woman whose husband was unfaithful to her, but she had two small children and wanted to save the marriage. No amount of couples counseling, self help books, or willing herself to forgive him worked. She was hesitant to try life coaching since nothing else had worked, but decided to contact me as a last resort. In just 12 weeks, she wrestled through it all, and genuinely forgave him and now is happy in her marriage and her kids have a solid home to live in. Another client of mine was a successful career woman, but still hadn’t hit the highest level of income in her 12 years because of low self-confidence. After starting life coaching with me, she tripled her income and has balanced her work/life in a way that makes her proud. As a life coach, I use causal coaching- I always want to get to the root of the problem. Treating just the symptoms is a disservice to my client, and will not teach them to understand why they do what they do, and the thoughts they will need to think in order to overcome what is holding them back.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is to serve my current clients so powerfully that their lives change and others can’t help but want to have the same results in their own lives. I never hold back in coaching or my knowledge of what could help, whether in a consult or on a coaching call.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
The only thing needed to succeed in my field is a genuine love for people, and a belief they can reach their goals. No human is beyond help, and everyone deserves to be happy.
