We recently connected with Ginger Curtis and have shared our conversation below.
Ginger, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Becoming an interior designer was a dream of mine that started when I was a young girl. Designing my own bedroom, arranging and using my own money to buy items that elevated the look and feel of my own little place in the world. Fast forward to my adult life and the dream re-emerged as I was battling cancer. I shared the dream with my husband and started building the design firm from my kitchen table. I didn’t want to name it “Ginger Curtis Designs”, I didn’t want the company to be about me. I wanted it to represent a lifestyle, a modern style, and an urban aesthetic. So, as I learned interior design and researched the ins and outs, the name “Urbanology” came to me. Urbanology Designs was incorporated in 2015 and has since become an award-winning brand representing relaxed modern and organic luxury interiors.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a mother of five, an award-winning interior designer, book author, Instagram Influencer, and serial entrepreneur. An expert in modern, luxury interior design with a passion for all things beautiful. After surviving cancer, I began Urbanology Designs in 2015 to inspire and help others elevate their homes’ beauty, comfort, and function. Our firm’s ability to connect with clients and bring their dreams into reality has led to multiple “best of” awards for design and customer service year after year. I’ve also appeared on several TV and radio shows, podcasts and been featured in over 100 magazines and digital publications.
In addition to our full-service interior design services, we also offer design consultations and have our own high-end, custom furniture line. Our firm is located in a beautifully renovated fire station that is now an event center and office suites for lease. It was certainly one of our favorite projects to take this dilapidated, vacant fire station and redesign it into a luxurious, modern space with all the beautiful things for events and our office tenants.
I am most proud of the design team we have, each of these ladies bring their absolute best to work everyday. From such a rich culture of excellence, we deliver for our clients not only beautiful, luxurious interiors but also transformational interactions in which they feel their dreams and goals have been seen, understood, and turned into reality. Our brand is exceptional because our people are a team of exceptional, highly talented, and client focused designers and managers.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The number one thing I would say, and the reason why I’ve worked really hard at managing our social media, it is the fastest way for somebody to understand your brand message. The way I’ve curated our Instagram feed is so that it’s the number one place I send people to. We curate our personal homes and our social media accounts are our digital homes. It’s allowing people to see and quickly feel this connection with you. When starting out, remember authenticity is key, don’t create something you’re not. People will connect with you and your business if they can trust you, and trust takes time and consistency. And true consistency can only come from an authentic self.

We believe great interiors come from following our clients’ longings and gravitations, the threads and patterns in their life to bring together all the pieces and then elevate them to new heights of beauty and design. From the initial call with our clients to the care packages we deliver to them at the end of the project. we put our clients first, their dreams and needs. Our Instagram Stories and posts have become a favorite place for our clients and fans to see behind the scenes and gather design advice which in turn continues to foster loyalty and new projects.
