We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Milda Aleknaite a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Milda, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always had an innate passion for creating and expressing myself through art. The desire to explore creativity and bring my artistic vision to life is a driving force in my decision to pursue art professionally. These are the reasons:
Personal Fulfillment: Creating art is deeply fulfilling. I find joy and a sense of purpose in the process of making art and sharing my creations with others. The act of creating becomes an integral part of the identity and a means of personal growth and self-expression.
Communication and Connection: I use my work as a form of communication, expressing ideas, emotions, and perspectives. I aim to connect with viewers on an emotional and intellectual level, sparking conversations and provoking thought. Professional art offers a platform to reach a wider audience and foster meaningful connections through my creations.
Career and Financial Stability: While not the primary motivation for me, I choose to pursue art professionally to establish a career and achieve financial stability.
Personal Growth and Exploration: Art offers endless opportunities for personal growth and exploration. I continuously challenge myself , experiment with different techniques and mediums, and push the boundaries.
It’s important to note that each artist’s motivations and goals can vary significantly. What drives one artist may be different from another, as artistic pursuits are deeply personal and unique to the individual.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a mixed media artist from Lithuania who has spent half of my life in the USA, I am a fusion of cultural influences, blending my European heritage with vibrant artistic scene of my American experience. I discovered my passion for art a very young age and embarked on a lifelong journey of creative exploration. At the age of 21, I relocated by myself, to United States. The exposure to the diverse cultural landscape of my new home greatly influenced my personal artistic style. Drawing inspiration from both studies in Lithuanian and United States, also experimenting with various art forms, gradually developed my unique mixed media approach. Through my career, I have exhibited in the galleries all over the country.
As a mixed media artist, my mission is to create transformative and immersive experience through the fusion of various artistic mediums. I am to blur the boundaries between different forms of art, combining painting and sculpture.
As I continue to explore new venues of expression, my work serves as a testament to the power of art to transcend borders and connect people from different backgrounds.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Artists are often driven by a multitude of missions and goals, as each artist is unique in their aspirations and creative vision. This is my own personal driving force::
Self-Expression: I often have a deep need to express myself, my emotions, thoughts, and perspectives through my chosen medium. I strive to communicate my inner world and connect with others.
Communication and Connection: In general artists aim to bridge gaps and connect people by evoking emotions, challenging societal norms, and offering new perspectives. I seek to create a dialogue and provoke meaningful conversations through my own artwork.
Beauty and Aesthetics: I am driven by the pursuit of beauty and aesthetics. I strive to create visually captivating and emotionally stirring artworks that inspire and uplift the human spirit.
Personal Growth and Exploration: I see my artistic practice as a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
It’s important to note that our mission or goal can be highly individualized, and many artists may have multiple driving forces that motivate their creative endeavors.
