Mikey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
I remember it like it was yesterday! The first ever dollar I made in my creative career was on YouTube! I was already monetized early into my creating on that platform, but I never reached a threshold to finally be paid by them. Then one day it happened, I received my first $100 check in the mail from Google Adsense, and that was when I knew something could be there if I stayed consistent.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Honestly, we are in a pivotal age where we all need as much support as possible. Whether it is liking or sharing posts, listening to your friends new song, or even buying someones new art. All of this can help these people thrive in their fields. Sometimes I have caught people not truly being supportive, and in this long game, all help should be welcomed to one another. We all can make it in the end!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
To me I feel like it is most rewarding when my art and what I create finally is out in the world. It’s not so much the validation that might come afterwards, but the fact that what I have created is finally into existence. And that too me is so rewarding, especially if it is something I worked super hard on!
