We were lucky to catch up with Michelle Evans recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents weren’t perfect, and they never pretended to be. Looking back, I think that’s one of the greatest gifts they gave me. They were honest about life’s challenges. We knew when money was tight, and we watched them work through difficult seasons together instead of pretending everything was fine.
I grew up in a family of six—my parents raising four children, all under the age of ten at one point. We didn’t eat out because there wasn’t money for that. My mom cooked homemade meals every day while raising us and somehow found the determination to go to nursing school at the same time. She graduated with honors and became a registered nurse, building a career while continuing to care for our family. My dad worked full-time as a firefighter at Will Rogers Air Force Base and eventually became Fire Chief. Neither of them took shortcuts. They simply showed up every day and did what needed to be done.
What they modeled wasn’t perfection—it was integrity. They taught me that hard work matters, that humility is a strength, and that authenticity builds trust. They never judged people, no matter where they came from, because they came from humble beginnings themselves.
Those lessons have stayed with me throughout my life and are woven into everything I do at Inner Source Healing. I want people to feel they can come exactly as they are, without judgment or needing to pretend they have it all together. Healing begins when we feel safe enough to be honest, and I learned the importance of that from watching my parents live it every day.
This year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and I’m incredibly grateful for the example they’ve set—not because they had an easy life, but because they met life’s challenges with resilience, love, and authenticity. They’ve quietly made a lasting impact on our family and on the Bethany, Oklahoma community they have called home for decades.

Michelle, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I never set out to simply open a massage practice—I set out to create a place where people could reconnect with themselves.
Like many people in the healing profession, my journey began with my own search for healing. Along the way, I realized that while massage can ease physical pain, so much of what people carry lives beneath the surface. Stress, grief, trauma, burnout, and the constant pressure to keep going often disconnect us from our own bodies and inner wisdom.
That realization became the foundation of Inner Source Healing.
I believe every person has an innate capacity to heal. My role isn’t to “fix” anyone; it’s to create a safe, compassionate environment where people can slow down, regulate their nervous system, listen to their bodies, and reconnect with the part of themselves that already knows the way forward.
Over the years, my practice has evolved into an integrative healing space that blends therapeutic massage, Reiki, breathwork, meditation, and other holistic approaches. I also love creating community through events and workshops because healing doesn’t have to happen in isolation. Sometimes the greatest transformation happens when people realize they are not alone.
What sets my work apart is that I don’t believe healing is one-size-fits-all. Every session begins with listening. I meet people where they are and create an experience based on what they need in that moment rather than following a routine or checklist. Whether someone comes to me with chronic pain, overwhelming stress, emotional exhaustion, or simply a desire to reconnect with themselves, my goal is always the same: to help them leave feeling more grounded, more present, and more empowered.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the community that has grown around Inner Source Healing. People often tell me they feel safe here—that they can take off the mask, breathe deeply, and simply be themselves without judgment. To me, that’s the greatest compliment I could receive.
If there’s one thing I hope people take away from my work, it’s this: healing isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who you’ve always been beneath the stress, fear, expectations, and noise of everyday life. My hope is that everyone who walks through my door leaves with a deeper connection to themselves and the confidence to continue that journey long after they leave my office.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the biggest lessons in my journey has been learning to keep going even when things didn’t look successful on paper. There have been seasons where I questioned whether I could continue—financially, emotionally, and personally. Opening my own space was a dream, but it also came with challenges I couldn’t have anticipated.
Through those difficult seasons, I realized resilience isn’t about pretending everything is okay. It’s about being honest with yourself, asking for help when you need it, and continuing to show up with integrity even when the outcome is uncertain.
My own healing journey taught me that true healing isn’t something someone else gives you—it’s something you’re gently guided back to within yourself. That belief became the foundation of Inner Source Healing. Every challenge I’ve faced has deepened my compassion for the people who walk through my door. I know what it feels like to carry grief, stress, uncertainty, and the pressure to keep going.
Today, my goal isn’t simply to help people feel better for an hour. It’s to create a safe space where they can reconnect with themselves, trust their own inner wisdom, and remember that they already possess an incredible capacity to heal. In many ways, the hardest seasons of my life have become the greatest gift I can offer others.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been focusing on relationships instead of transactions. In a world that often encourages businesses to chase numbers and constantly market themselves, I’ve found that genuine connection is far more powerful.
My goal has never been to convince people they need me. Instead, I strive to create a space where people feel safe, seen, and supported. When someone has a meaningful experience, they naturally share it with the people they love. Those referrals have become the heart of my business.
I’ve also learned that growth doesn’t always mean getting bigger—it means becoming more aligned. As I’ve become clearer about my mission to help people reconnect with their own capacity to heal, I’ve attracted clients who are looking for more than temporary relief. They’re looking for lasting change, and that’s where the most meaningful work happens.
At the end of the day, I believe authenticity is the best marketing strategy. When you genuinely care about the people you serve and stay true to your values, your reputation grows one relationship at a time.
