We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michelle Daniels . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michelle below.
Michelle , appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
Creating a service model that will attract and retain customers is not a easy task. It takes consistency , patience and good communication skills. Learning your customer likes, dislikes, remembering names or even their favorite meal. Taking the extra steps, going out of your way builds trust and repeat business .
My grandparents taught me the Golden Rule . Treat others the way you want to be treated.
As I look back on interactions with my customers/clients one time stands out.
One of my customers came in to pick up a order for their family. I prepared the items, the customer picked up. I received a phone call that part of the order was missing. I apologized and offered to drive the missing items to them so everyone could enjoy the meal.
I left and drove the meal to her home.
She was grateful and pleasantly surprised.
She is now a regular customer with us.
Michelle , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Michelle Daniels and Iam a native of Arizona. I grew up and my business is centered in South Phoenix. I started in the hospitality industry as a need to have a job out high school. My goals were to be a computer programmer. Lol.. however I found that the fast paced, multitasking world of hospitality was for me!
After many years working in hotels and resorts I decided to attend culinary school so that can learn the science behind foos and cooking . At a young age I spent many days with my loving Grandparents learning to cook.
One thing my Grandparents put into their food was love and passion . From the presentation to the quality every meal was cooked with love.
I took this philosophy and poured my heart into every interaction, and every meal that I prepare.
Food is the epitome of life. It brings back memories , creates memories and gives us life
As I look at what sets me apart from others, I would have to say : consistency, ability to read my customers needs, providing unexpectedly amazing service !
As I continue to grow my brand, it is my goal to continue to expose my style of gourmet comfort soul to the valley and more.
I am most proud of being a product of South Phoenix and have the ability to make a difference in my community at large
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I think about resilience , I have to think about how COVID affected not just myself but the world . This virus took me to a place of uncertainty. In 2019, I left my career in Healthcare to feed my energy into my “side gig”. During the same time COVID was on the rise and businesses were closing.
With thought and some risks it was decided that All About Food would continue to set we the community. We reduced hours, opened up on delivery platforms and engaged heavily with social media. We also collaborated with Non-profit businesses to serve meals to our underserved population.
All of this enabled us to grow and stay open.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What I feel built my reputation in my market would be consistency. Consistency breeds trust and trust breeds new and repeat business. Being patient and kind goes a long way.
The customer is our foundation and can make or break you. I was built on the adage that “the customer is always right “ You handle situations on the appropriate manner . However, in the end you take care of the customers.
The key is ensure that if you falter you recover fully to re-build and keep your customers trust .
