Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Micah Woldenga. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Micah, appreciate you joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Yes, I’m a very happy business owner, and I’ve had that mindset since I was a kid. I’ve always known I wanted to be in charge of my own path, and I don’t see that ever changing. That said, there are moments when I think about how much simpler life might be with a regular job.
Of course, the profits are significantly different, but beyond that, owning a business gives me something I couldn’t trade: freedom. I can create my own schedule, pursue my vision, and, most importantly, provide opportunities for others by employing them. One of my favorite things about my work is the hospitality aspect. Cleaning vacation rentals means I get to leave each home perfect for the next guest, ensuring they feel welcomed and cared for—just like I appreciate when I’m on vacation.
Still, there are times, especially in high-stress situations (which happen often in my business), when I question whether it’s all worth it. Those moments hit hard—when deadlines pile up, things go wrong, or the responsibilities feel overwhelming. But at the end of the day, I always come back to the same conclusion: yes, it is worth it. For the freedom, the impact, and the satisfaction of doing what I love, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Micah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Micah, and I’m the owner and operator of Woldenga Cleaning, a vacation rental cleaning company based in Temecula, California. I started this business because I’ve always been passionate about hospitality and creating welcoming, beautiful spaces for people to enjoy. I’ve loved the idea of being my own boss since I was a kid, and building this business has been a dream come true.
At Woldenga Cleaning, we specialize in cleaning high-end vacation rentals, including properties in Temecula Wine Country and recently, San Diego. Our services go beyond standard cleaning; we focus on delivering a luxury guest experience through meticulous attention to detail, highly trained staff, and seamless collaboration with property managers.
We solve a critical problem for property managers: maintaining their homes at the highest standards so guests feel cared for and leave glowing reviews. This ensures guest satisfaction, protects the property’s reputation, and boosts bookings.
What sets us apart is our commitment to excellence and the extra touches we add to every stay. From towel animals to creatively folded toilet paper and paper towels, to placing mints on the beds, we go the extra mile to delight guests and make their experience unforgettable. These small but impactful details help set the tone for a welcoming and luxurious stay, and they’re something we take pride in.
I’m especially proud of the team we’ve built. They are the backbone of our success, and it’s fulfilling to know I’m helping hardworking people grow in their roles while ensuring they feel valued. I’m also proud of our reputation for going above and beyond—not just cleaning homes, but creating spaces that leave lasting impressions.
For potential clients, I want them to know that we don’t just clean; we partner with property managers to create unforgettable guest experiences. Our work is grounded in reliability, precision, and a genuine love for what we do. Whether you’re managing one property or several, we’re here to make your job easier and your guests happier.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best sources of new clients for Woldenga Cleaning have been a mix of proactive outreach, word of mouth, and organic growth through our partnerships. Driving around and spotting vacation rental signs in front of properties has been incredibly effective. When we identify potential clients, we reach out to them directly and share our promotional video, which showcases the quality of our work and the unique touches we bring to each property.
Word of mouth has also played a significant role. By consistently delivering exceptional service and creating memorable guest experiences, our reputation has grown, leading to referrals from happy property managers. Many of our clients manage multiple properties, so as they expand, we’re often brought along as their preferred housekeeping vendor. This has allowed us to grow alongside their portfolios, which has been a rewarding and mutually beneficial process.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale is to treat your team like family. In this line of work, I often spend more time with my team than with my own family, so it’s important to foster a sense of closeness and camaraderie. Building that connection helps create a supportive and motivated environment where everyone feels valued.
At the same time, it’s essential to treat each person as an individual. Take the time to understand their unique strengths, needs, and goals. A personal touch goes a long way in making people feel seen and appreciated.
That said, balance is key. While I focus on building a positive, family-like atmosphere, I also draw clear boundaries to ensure the team is managed effectively. Leadership isn’t just about being kind; it’s about setting expectations, holding people accountable, and ensuring the team functions like a well-oiled machine. By finding that balance between compassion and structure, you create an environment where your team feels both supported and inspired to perform at their best.
