We were lucky to catch up with Meria Heller recently and have shared our conversation below.
Meria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents were old school. My dad worked while my mom stayed home. They taught us all about life and the things we needed to know to become independent, self employed women. They weren’t “helicopter” parents, nor were they missing parents. They taught us above life, love, music, integrity, character and how to rely on ourselves to know and do what’s right.
They spent a lot of time with myself and my four sisters. Getting good grades wasn’t an option and I remember many nights that my Dad sat down and did homework with us.
My dad taught me not to lie. He said it was too hard to keep track of lies so why not tell the truth.
Both being Italian music was a huge part of growing up. So was cooking and food! We may not have been wealthy but we were rich compared to most.
Freedom of expression was actually encouraged. Thanks to them they raised daughters and grandchildren who are happy, healthy and independent.

Meria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I had a NDE when I was 4 years old. When I was revived I knew all sorts of thing a four year old had no business knowing. This was the beginning of my spiritual journey. I started telling adults around me what I “knew” intuitively and some of my “predictions” were not well received! No one wanted a child to know their inner thoughts and intentions. By the time I was 29 years old I could no longer stuff the “gift” away. It was on full blast. I decided to try making a living with my “readings” and my paintings and never looked back. As for radio or my podcast of 22 years, I literally fell into that. I just followed the yellow brick road of my life and took a chance on myself and here I am. I am proud of my podcast audience because they are doers not just viewers. I love teaching my students everything from the Universal Medicine Wheel, Reiki and the tarot.
Besides being a boomer I have worked in NYC, stay abreast of what’s going on in the world and put all that together for the benefit of my clients for personal consultations. I’ve changed many lives this lifetime for sure and love it.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Our professions choose us, not the other way around. If you’re in a profession that you hate chances are you picked it for the wrong reasons or pressure from your parents.
We know what we come here to do before arrival. Then life takes over.
It takes a courageous person to find out their true “calling” and switch horses mid stream.
My best advise to clients is to “follow the yellow brick road” you laid out for yourself before coming into
body this time. When people deviate from their true calling they live unhappy, unfulfilled lives. So I encourage
people to “roll the dice on yourself”. Don’t worry- get happy!
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
The ability to listen intently to the client. Also to separate my own personal beliefs/etc from what I am getting for my client. Humor and LOVE must come through every reading no matter how serious it may be. Trust is another one. Your client must trust you implicitly. This is the reason besides accuracy that I have some clients for over 30 years.
