Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danny Arnold. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Danny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I think the biggest risk I took was leaving a good paying college coaching job, with a promising future, and with as little as $500 bucks, start Plex, a human performance center that provides performance training and physical therapy for individuals off all skills and sports. Why was it so risky? because at the time there wasn’t an industry or a company like this. I didn’t have the luxury to learn from this sort of business model. I had to create it my self. Sure there was physical therapy centers and there was personal training spots, but not to the degree like we offer then and currently at Plex. There was hospital-types offering physical therapy, and there where personal trainers/coaches, but I wanted both without the barriers that hospital or traditional physical therapy centers have, and the limitations that you have as a personal trainer. Not to mention, a program that was, and continues to be, cutting edge and ahead of curve. And looking back, it was certainly well worth it to take this risk.
Danny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Former athlete and coach (football and track) in college that felt that the standards in performance training and sports therapy where inadequate and ventured on his own to open a facility for athletes of all sports and skill levels. From the youngsters to pro athletes, to executives that are tired of traditional gyms and injury-prone training programs, Plex is a facility and product for all their needs. With a team of well rounded therapists, nutritionists, physical trainers and others, Plex provides every necessary tool for a competitive or non-competitive athlete to achieve greatness. Already a well recognized facility and program, Plex is planning to expand throughout the country in the coming years. www.plexathlete.com And with this came the need to offer these same programs to income-restricted families, so the start of plexfoundation.org was made. To improve the health and fitness of America’s youth by teaching them critical life skills through sports and education. One of the most things I’m proud about is what happens here on a daily basis at Plex, we get the most out of people, both on training and physical therapy, and we make them better than they where before they walked in here.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
by far one of the most important things is to listen to your clientele and your piers: never, absolutely never, think you can’t learn more. surprisingly, some of the best information is right around you, so keep asking questions and keep listening.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
prove it everyday that you’re committed to your current clientele via your knowledge and passion, and they will turn around and share it with others.
