We recently connected with Melissa Vincent and have shared our conversation below.
Melissa, appreciate you joining us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
I always go above and beyond for clients. First and foremost I want them to feel at home and comfortable. I try to think of everything from how the client feels inside to simulating their senses external with things like relaxing candles and soothing hot towels. Additionally, I always leave out treats they can take home like gourmet tea and candy.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into my industry through a some what tragic situation that ended up a perfect blessing. I was a stay at home mom with 3 boys when their father decided he had other plans. I was forced to pack my few belongings, pack up my boys, enroll in school and move into a spare room in a friends house. Me and my boys shared a queen bed and the floor while I went to school and worked delivering pizza to get by. After 5 months I repaired my credit enough to get approved for a home to buy. This is when me and my family moved into our own home. I graduated massage therapy school shortly after and immediately enrolled in Esthetician school. 600 hours of schooling later, I graduated that program.
I spent countless hours deciding what services to offer and what product lines I wanted to incorporate in my business. I spoke to many company representatives and got everything dialed in.
I strive to offer affordable services that are convenient for my clientele that range from skin care to body work (massage)
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I spent my late teens and early 20’s on active duty with the United States Air Force. I transitioned into Corrections immediately prior. To transition into a more peaceful career was a bit difficult at first but I really embraced it and everything fell into place perfectly.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
To fund my business as a single mother was definitely a challenge and took several years. I used my tax returns for several years to invest a little bit more money until I had everything I needed. My family has had to make sacrifices but we made it and we are grateful.
