We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Melissa Pepin and Corry Frazier NA. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Melissa Pepin and Corry Frazier below.
Melissa Pepin and Corry Frazier, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Often the greatest growth and the biggest wins come right after a defeat. Other times the failure serves as a lesson that’s helpful later in your journey. We’d appreciate if you could open up about a time you’ve failed.
2023 was the year it felt like we couldn’t sell anything with The Business Reboot. We ended 2022 having successfully sold two retreats for entrepreneurs, selling out our first $30,000 Mastermind, and wholeheartedly believing the old adage, “if you build it they will come!” We were dead wrong. We spent the first half of 2023 serving clients in that Mastermind and assuming if it sold once before then all we needed to do was collect testimonials and pitch it out into the world again for it to sell out and bring in another chunk of income for us. It didn’t happen. In fact, not only did round 2 of that Mastermind not sell but neither did the next level up that we had created. We spent days feverishly creating in a hotel room, writing out curriculum for a newer, higher ticket mastermind that we were extremely excited about only to come back to our respective homes and realize that no one we pitched to individually was going to bite on it. We decided to open up another retreat, assuming that we needed to go back to what our company originally offered but that flopped too. We had decided to book a more expensive venue so when only a few people purchased seats we knew we had a choice to make; fail forward or fall apart. We knew how stories like ours usually went. Leaders sell a big event and (even if they have to give the seats away) as long as it LOOKS full and beautiful, they save face and can go about business pretending they decided not to ever offer it again. It was never the truth, which was that they were forced out of it because of debt and emotional baggage. We knew we COULD go that route but it went against everything we believed in and just couldn’t stomach the idea of, essentially, lying to all of our people by withholding the truth. So we didn’t. We called everyone who had booked a seat to that retreat and offered them a refund OR to serve them in a capacity that would be beneficial to their business growth. That is how our individual, high touch coaching program was born. They all wanted to opt into coaching containers with us and we canceled the venue. Six months later we had a full roster of high ticket, high touch coaching clients and were watching them grow leaps and bounds with our support. That year of failure ended up creating more momentum than we could have ever planned.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Corry spent years in education when she felt a tug in her heart to leave the classroom and dive headfirst into entrepreneurship by opening a photography business on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. She has spent the last 17 years running a successful senior and branding photography studio, educating creative entrepreneurs through speaking engagements, and coaching entrepreneurs on how to grow, scale, and pivot in their own businesses.
Melissa spent 19 years investing in couples, families, and businesses as the owner of a successful photography company, running and speaking at conferences and retreats for female entrepreneurs, and coaching female founders through mindset support to help them lead with confidence and joy in their own businesses.
Through months of conversations and a shared dream we had to help other entrepreneurs build businesses that are profitable, successful, and built to last. We landed on the concept of rebooting…rather than rebuilding. We don’t believe you have to tear down a business and start over from scratch if things aren’t working. Instead we operate under the ethos that once you pull away the broken pieces of a business that isn’t growing and repair what’s no longer working, you can set your business up in a way that supports you no matter what storms come your way. We are on a mission to help business owners run wildly successful businesses without compromising the integrity of their lives. The Business Reboot provides entrepreneurs a framework to help diversify offers, generate more revenue, and increase meaningful impact through high-touch, individualized business coaching and an annual business retreat.
We are most proud of the relationships we have with the clients we serve. It costs a lot of money, time, and vulnerability to work with a coach to grow your business and it’s never lost on us that out of a sea of options in the world, our clients have chosen to invest with us. We work under the banner of character and integrity being our largest assets and doing so has allowed us to foster relationships that yield the absolute sweetest fruit. We don’t win until our clients win, period.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our character, follow through, and ability to make every single person we interact with feel important, seen, and safe has secured a reputation among our clients that feels more familial than corporate. Couple this with our resolute approach to accountability and the ability to create additional revenue streams for our clients in our sleep has built a reputation within our market that is invaluable to us. We started The Business Reboot as an alternative to the untouchable leadership we’d experienced over decades of growing our own businesses and it was and is still so important to us that every person we interact with are able to experience the most authentic versions of us. We are not overly polished boss babes. We are honest and challenging and anyone we work with knows that signing up with us means refusing to let them be their biggest barrier to success anymore. We are not the coaches that are ever going to emphasize building a company to 6-7-8 figures at any cost. We do not believe in setting unattainable goals that will only leave you feeling defeated and broken. We want you to honor commitments to yourself. We want to show you how to leverage your knowledge. We want to celebrate the work you’ve put in like crazy. Bottom line is we want you to win more than we want us to win and as people have noticed the results and success for themselves, they’ve trusted us more. That’s gold for us.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Our programs are high-touch so we are in constant communication with our clients. We utilize apps like Voxer to tap in on a daily/weekly basis to make sure our clients are supported in ways that are the most impactful. We firmly believe that you teach your clients/customers how to treat you as a business owner so from the very beginning of a time onboarding with a new client we set parameters around our communication, office hours, and touch points so that we don’t get overwhelmed and they never feel ignored. We follow through with our word and show up when we say we will, which has fostered a great sense of brand loyalty because our clients know they can trust us.
We’re are also over 100 episodes into podcasting (The Business Reboot Podcast) and that consistency has given our clients/prospective clients faith in our ability to honor our commitments and create really helpful content out of a true desire to serve to the point where they can confidently ask the question, “If we get this much help for free, how much more will we receive behind the pay wall?!”
The people who know, like, and trust our brand do so because we are loyal to them too. We believe that respect is reciprocal and we never want to sell anyone something we can’t deliver on so as we continue to walk clients/prospective clients through our growth roadmaps and plans, we maintain honesty and make sure they know that ultimately they hold the reins on their success. We don’t want them to win for us…we want them to win for themselves.
Our clients also know that once you are a part of our Business Reboot community, it’s more like family. We will always be cheering them on and there to help them when they feel stuck. We know the inside out parts of their business and that can feel very vulnerable, which is why we offer such a high touch client experience. It’s also why we want our clients to know that we care for them like we care for our own families.
