Emmpowerr, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?

My first paid gig was a show in St. Pete. at a gay bar. I don’t remember the place lol but it was one of the best times of my life. I was paid $50 to come out and perform. I gave it my all and everyone in the building truly enjoyed me. I remember asking everyone i knew to come out and support and no one came. Looking back im glad they didnt because it taught me early to perform for myself, not to impress anyone.

A few years later Im getting paid $300 bucks a show with hotel and travel included. As time progresses i know ill be making more art and getting paid to give it to the world

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Emmpowerr! I am a pop star from Tampa, Florida. Its taken me a while to get to the place to acknowledge i am a Pop Star. At first i was focused on being a rapper, but as much as i love to rap nothing beats making fun girly hyper pop.

My goal with my music is to have fun! Even when im singing about getting my heart broken, i want a fun and sexy beat behind it so I don’t forget that I’m HOT. Im proud to be a Star in this world that emmpowerrs others to be themselves. My music and my socials is a place to go to know you aren’t the only weird one on this planet.

As I grow in my brand and as a person, I’ve realized I want to embrace my youth. Even though I’m sexy, I’m still going to wear a tutu and paint my face purple. Anyone who doesn’t like it can kick rocks. I’m everyone’s favorite even if they don’t know it yet.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

Recently I had to unlearn what cheating is. I have a friend group of only men and they think that men can’t cheat by only getting head. I’ve been around that for 5 years so I convinced myself that was something I believed. UNTIL I got into a relationship and by now ex boyfriend told me he has someone who calls when they want to come and give him head. It all clicked and i was like “WHAT???”. Someone touching my man who is not me? Absolutely not. Moving forward I have have to make sure I’m not convincing myself of something just because people around me are saying it.

Cheating is cheating unless you have an open relationship and I’m not going for any of that lmaoooo

Have you ever had to pivot?

I used to be “Your Favorite Heaux”. It was my brand for about 3 years, but in April of 2023 I decided to pivot towards being “Your Favorite” because I didnt connect with the name anymore. I am an artist, sister, comedian as well as a Heaux. I no longer wanted to keep myself in a box with that being branded on my face. Best thing i did for the betterment of my career.
