Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Melanin Amor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Melanin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
As of right now I do manage my own social media, but that’s only because I do not have anyone else to manage it. I hope in the future to find someone to manage it as I would rather have someone else manage my professional page and I continue to develop and work on my personal page as there are two different things, I kind of like to be Beyoncé when it comes to social media don’t really wanna respond. I do appreciate everybody’s support and likes but at this time I’m just not sure if you know the comments of course I’m gonna receive positive comments but as far as negative, I’m not sure where I am right now in this moment in life, I’m still learning myself. I’m still growing and I’m still learning self-control , so I think it would be best for someone else to manage my social media I don’t have a lot of following because I don’t post a lot of content, but that’s because I’m focusing on my schools studies right now, but as soon as that is done, I plan to go full fledge into modeling and have that be my main focus other people who are looking to go into modeling? I would just say be authentic be yourself try to find your own book your own walk And just stay the course as it’s not easy and sometimes it can just become a overwhelming task. Stay focused on what you want never change who you are. And simply be you.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Melanie More. I am a print editorial and runway model from Portsmouth Virginia. I got some modeling from performing with a friend at a dance performance, and a designer saw me and recruited me on and made me an ambassador, and I just took modeling from there. What sets me apart from other people is that I’m literally me nobody else’s me right I’m social, I’m fun. I’m assertive. I’m like a little bit of everything in one and overall. The thing that I am most proud of is me being able to go to Paris, but then my first three years of modeling. I do not have a manager. I did not have anybody promote me. I simply just went to audition in New York and was seen by someone else and they contact me and emailed me my friend created a go fund me page and I was in Paris was an amazing experience. I was so glad to be able to be one of the first people from my areas to even actually do that without a manager without a agency, so that was a bit accomplishment for me no one has yet still been able for my area to go there yet what I would like every one to know about me is that I’m forever always just gonna be me but sometimes I know I have like the mean b**** face but I’m super nice super nice super caring. I’m in super social.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lessons that I have learned from modeling, it’s just always to continue to be a self represent yourself authentically and stay and shine in your full potential. There are people who will try to mimic what you do through your ideas and present them to other people however, those ideas would never ever be able to be presented the way that you will be able to present them, never give up on yourself and again I’ve said it many many many times. Continue to be yourself. Be comfortable with yourself because a lot of people are uncomfortable with themselves and they do things to make you feel less than. They try to manipulate you into changing yourself and changing who you are but always stay true to who you are those same people were mimicking you were copying you and those same people really want to be you. I will also like to add standing firm on on your worst and yourself value there are photographers there are designers that want to use you to show off their product but not appreciate you and not never want to compensate you in any form or would like to use your for free in 2024. that’s just not acceptable, so again stay true to who you are and know your self-worth. So I would say something that I had to unlearn is that everybody’s not your friend and every one is here for your better good so always keep that in mind but still be nice and true to you. But understand that not everyone that comes around you is on your team

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I would say the best source of new client. It’s just advertisement and word-of-mouth emails text messages wherever you are you can always meet people again I’m social so I meet people everywhere I am and I talk to people and people usually ask me and my model and we just go from there, but I would say that would just be communication to people informing people on what you do and letting them know that you are the best at it
