We were lucky to catch up with Meagan Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Meagan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I was working a full time job. A job that I had been at for about 4+ years at the time. It was call center work….need I say more? Around November of 2019 I started to really struggle with anxiety on the job which is a real thing. I was prescribed anxiety meds and everything but I believe I was already mentally checked out. I wanted to possibly promote to a different position which would have helped tremendously however bc it was during COVID season, the process was slow. Times goes on and I decided to start putting more effort into my YouTube channel and editing videos and getting my thumbnails right. While doing so, I somehow branched off into wanting to do flyers. I made a random flyer for a friend and her business; for free. She loved it. She asked me to design a logo. I made it very clear that I had no idea how to do so and that I have never ever designed a logo or flyer in my life but she told me to go for it. This was April of 2020…July 2020 I was able to resign from my job to do graphic design full time and itsMEGDesigns LLC was birthed. From November to April, I was seeking answers. I was a good steward over my job. I didn’t take it for granted but I knew God had more for me. He was showing me over and over, the plan and it fell in my lap right at the right time.

Meagan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am the owner and founder of one of the greatest graphic design companies in middle TN, itsMEGDesigns LLC. Though we service people all across the world, my clientele started right in Murfreesboro, TN. I’m not the “typical” graphic designer. I don’t design for my clients’ right now, I design for their futures.
I’ve based my business on setting business owners apart from others. I specialize in creating custom graphics that provide quality and professionalism to every business I create for. My desire is to help cultivate your business or brand. I want everyone to win. I have a special place in my heart for people who stepped out on faith and started something that would be theirs. Something that would make their families proud.
And when I create, my clients can feel that. I’m so proud of the fact that so many people have told me that they can feel God through my work. They can tell how serious I am and how much I love what I do. That makes me happy as a creative and that allows me to keep going.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
In my opinion, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the fact that I can be un-niched. Being a creative is the individualistic and unique to said person. It’s a creative expression of the thoughts that entire your mind daily. And with that, it goes to show that there are truly no limits on creativity. Whether I’m designing logos, flyers, editing videos, creating content on social media, or even singing, I’ve made a choice that I can’t and won’t be placed in a box. God is too big for that. The audience I’ve built on social media, love me for me. And had I set my creativity in a box, I wouldn’t have people that can respect my process as much as I do.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media literally by being myself. As cliche as it might sound, I have to think long term as it pertains to who supports me. I believe in complete authenticity. Imagine gaining supporters who truly have no idea who you are. That’s a whole different can of worms that will be opened down the line. To avoid that, just be yourself. Be who God called you to be. Of course you’re going to change over time but you’re going to do it in the most authentic way. Who I am, what I know and what I’ve experienced, is all that I share with my audience and that’s why they come and that’s why they care to stay.
