Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maya Angel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Maya, appreciate you joining us today. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
The most important lesson I learned, while working at my last 9 to 5 job was that punching in and being on the clock “felt like work.”
It was a light bulb moment which made me realize that I personally wasn’t meant to be a worker bee who was merely a professional without a purpose.
If it felt like work and didn’t light a fire inside, I wasn’t being true to myself. I knew deep down that I had a greater mission because of what I had overcome with my own health, and it was time to completely devote myself to guide others back to theirs as well.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Maya Angel, and I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner/Holistic Nutritionist. I became interested in Health and Wellness after my own 25 year long battle with the illness Chronic Fatigue Syndrome aka Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. I suffered for those two and a half decades from a laundry list of symptoms which included: chronic fatigue and lethargy, brain fog, short term memory loss, migraines, weight fluctuations, high blood pressure, hormonal imbalances, endometriosis, fibroid tumors, essential tremors, and much more.
I was forced to overcome this long list of symptoms on my own, after over 50 doctors could simply not help me to figure out the root cause of my illness. This sparked my mission towards self-healing, and I inadvertently stumbled upon the idea that maybe it was what I was putting in my body that was keeping me sick. And thus, I began what would turn out to be 15 years of research in the area of nutrition and wellness, and was divinely led to ancestral eating. Symptom by symptom, I was able to heal myself with a Paleolithic/Ketogenic/Carnivorous approach to food. I was bed ridden at the beginning of my illness, and yet I miraculously got my life back with this lifestyle. It was then that I realized, my suffering could not be in vein. I knew that I was meant to pay it forward and help others heal from chronic illness the way I had!
I became a Certified Nutritionist in 2015 and in 2017 founded the health and wellness company, Angel’s Nutrition and Wellness, so that I may guide individuals back to optimum health with ancestral eating practices. My goal is to assist clients who struggle with chronic illnesses and obesity, and provide them with a blueprint to regain their health and vitality for life.
In 2020, Angel’s Nutrition and Wellness expanded its services and went digital with a 6 Week Online Ketogenic Nutrition Program, called Halo’s for Health: Plus Wings. 2022 brought forth an evolutionary step up in our Halo program, and we decided to take an even more holistic approach with King and Queen editions, where each client receives a complete Ancestral Eating education, and is guided through the process of returning to our roots, dispelling nutrition myths, and utilizing connectivity to understand that “how we nourish ourselves with daily, nutrition, says so much about our personal weaknesses and strengths… And how it carries over into every important aspect of our lives.”
We are all meant to be kings and queens living our best lives, and being led through this holistic approach reminds each client that discipline, time, and care are at the forefront of all successes, including their nutritional success because health is indeed a great measure of our wealth.
There are two things that set Halo’s for Health apart from most other nutrition and wellness programs. 1) Its focus on the reversal of Chronic Health Conditions and Metabolic Illnesses. Most other programs that deal with food/nutrition, place their clients’ successes on scale victories or on how much weight loss they’ve achieved. Halo’s for Health however, understands that weight loss can merely be a bonus on the path towards: a reduction in inflammation, and a balance of one’s blood sugar, which are huge steps towards optimal health. And 2) Halo’s for Health supplies its clients with a complete Ketogenic/Paleolithic nutrition education. This means that each client transitions into their new nutrition lifestyle with a thorough grasp of what and why certain foods may heal and/or harm the brain and the body both physically and mentally. Based on the nutrient density of each food they eat, my clients are well-versed in the reasons why they begin to thrive. Thus, giving them motivation to continue forward on their health journeys.
I am the most proud when my clients stick to their new ancestral eating lifestyles, and reap the benefits. I have successfully helped clients reverse a variety of conditions including: high blood pressure, cholesterol imbalance, hormonal and thyroid issues, digestive illnesses, arthritic conditions, diabetes, obesity, anxiety, and more.
The most important thing that I want my potential clients and followers to know is that most modern day illnesses, especially metabolic ones, do not have to be life-long sentences. You can receive guidance, and though it takes commitment… Proper nutrition can lead you back to health, and return you back to the king and/or queen status that you truly are meant to live in.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training/knowledge, the most helpful and important aspect to succeeding in the Nutrition and Wellness Practitioner field is to build sincere relationships with your clients, so that they know you truly care and that they are fully supported. Yes it’s true… There must be a fine line when it comes to wanting your client to succeed more than they do. However, when the Nutritionist is passionate about seeing their client’s health improve, the client not only feels empowered and motivated, but also as if they have a coach who inspires a strong sense of accountability within them. A sense that makes them enjoy the work they are putting in, even if it may be challenging at times.
I measure success in the Nutrition field, not by the quantity of money that one makes, but by the quality of teaching, empathy, and guidance that one employs with their clients. This is what truly gets the ball rolling to build a nutrition community and following, which in turn opens the door to a higher level of quality clientele, who with your guidance are ready to change their lives.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back with what I know now, say…. 15 to 20 years, I would indeed choose the same profession. Not only would I have been healthier at a much younger age, but there are some important individuals whom I could have shared my knowledge about ancestral eating with, whose health may have also been transformed.
I’m proud to be a part of the ancestral eating community because it returns us back to our nutrition roots, and has saved countless lives. For this reason, I honestly cannot see myself doing anything of more value or importance in my daily life. I’d choose it over and over again.
