Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mauricia Banks Martinez . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Mauricia Banks, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
Well, I hope my journey motivates and inspires people to take the necessary steps required to manifest their own dreams, even if it seems impossible or too far to obtain or just outside of the ordinary. I’m also expecting my legacy to create a sense of financial security, to ensure there’s money for the future generations after me, because I don’t want my kids, grandkids or even my great grandkids to want for nothing.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Mauricia Banks Martinez. I am the Chef and owner of Mo’s Authentic Cooking. I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, but due to hurricane Katrina I was forced to relocate to Houston, Tx in 2015. I now reside in Katy, Tx where I run a Cajun/ Creole business with amazing New Orleans cuisine that I hope you guys will be able to experience some day. I got into the business literally on a prayer. I’ve always known I wanted to start my own business but didn’t know exactly what field to go in, even though me and my husband have always discussed owning our own restaurant. Well, two years ago, I prayed and asked God to help me figure out which career path to take. As I set up and pondered on what business adventure to take, I received a text message from a previous realtor who desired to help me in any kind of way. She knew I didn’t have a job at that moment, so she asked me, “What are some things you know how to do? So, if I come across something, I can let you know about the opportunity?” Well, I listed everything I believe I’m good at. She called me minutes later and said, “Hey! Why don’t you just turn one of those hobbies into a business? You do them every day. Why not be your own boss and start your own business.” So, of course, I took that and ran with it. Now here I am in a magazine living the dream.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with my clients through social media and text marketing. I also make sure that I’m at the top of my game with quality control as well as professionalism, in order to retain my clients. I treat all of my clients with respect, love and appreciation because that lets them know their value and that goes along the way.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I actually turned my personal page into my business page, which was a great move because I didn’t have to work so hard to get my first three hundred followers. Then from there it was all about promoting, hustling and staying consistent.
