We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful MARTA RENILLA. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with MARTA below.
Alright, MARTA thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
The search for the perfect horse was becoming frustrating. After two years and a national search, my quest for finding my equine partner ended when I met Marta Renilla. Marta introduced me to the Dressage horses she had trained. From geldings to stallions, all of the horses at WEC have amazing temperaments and athletic ability. Marta’s riding is a joy to watch and the caliber of the horses at WEC reflect her training style and expertise. I ended up choosing xx, the first stallion I ever sat on and absolutely the most cooperative, willing, hard working horse I ever rode. Although I am still a beginning level dressage rider, xx has the sensitivity to work at my level yet he is athletic and determined enough to be a Prix St Georges competitor. I found the perfect horse to work through the levels over the next few years. I strongly believe this is a testament to Marta’s training, her love of this breed and her understanding of the individual rider’s needs.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Marta is a United Stated National, International Grand Prix trainer and USDF Gold, Silver & Bronze Medalist. Originally from Spain, she operates out of her training facility in Houston: Woodlands Equestrian Club (known as WEC), and is one of the top up and coming dressage riders in the US. Marta helped her husband Anartz Chanca to obtain his USDF Gold Medal and they both train at WEC and live with their three boys by the facility. Marta’s innate methodology comes from her childhood’s experiences at a barn in Madrid (Spain), where she shared her horses’ passion with her late mother Isabel Delgado. At age 8, she started training and competing Nationally in Jumping Shows. At age 14 she began her Dressage career with her horse Isenbrant who she self- trained all the way to Grand Prix. Later and before moving to the US, Marta trained with world known trainers Bill Noble, from UK; Brigitte Van Der Hagen, from The Netherlands; 4-time UK Olympian Jennie Loriston; and the International FEI O-Judge Yvonne Visser. Marta became a US citizen in 2018.
Marta has sold +200 sport horses to happy owners all over North America since 2010. She offers import and local Top Dressage horses of all levels, thanks to her vast network of the best breeders in Spain, Germany and USA.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My niche market are mostly Amateur female rider older than 50 who are buying their 4th or 5th horse. I reach out to them through different sources, but definitely Google search is my #1 resource.
Any advice for managing a team?
Making sure everyone understands that they’re being part of a team, WEC’s team. We are all working heard each day to achieve the best customer services for our clients and their horses.
