Marquita, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
I have managed my social media accounts since I started my business. It is just recently that I am now branching out and hiring someone.
Marquita, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello I am Marquita owner of Diva Dus by Marquita. I am a licensed hairstylist of 12 years. I have owned my own salon suite for 6 years. I specialize in silk pressed, natural hair and color. Is am a versatile hairstylist servicing all hair types and textures. I believe being versatile has set me apart from others. I am a huge 90s-00s fan, so I decided to show that aesthetic with my salon decor as well as my brand. I am most proud of for staying motivated to continue to to run a business no matter what obstacles i face. I want my future clients to know that I strive to bring them quality luxury services and a luxury experience.


What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn that every client isn’t for you and you aren’t for everything client. I could go into so much detail on this topic but i will keep it short. I try to make sure each and every client leaves loving their hair. If they don’t like it, it is my duty to fix it and help them achieve what they desire. A few I haven’t been able to please and it discouraged me very badly. I aim to please and not pleasing a client can be devastating. After multiple talks with friends and family, I realized it was not that I was failing at my job it was that I can’t satisfy everyone and that’s ok. So now i just know that No matter what I do my best and that’s all that matters.



How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with my clients through social media and through personal messages. I have created a loyalty vip list for my regular clients. This allows those individuals first dibs on my schedule before they are open to the public. They also have the chance to book reoccurring appointments as well. By doing this it has allowed more regular clients prebooking appointments.
