We recently connected with Markeisa Tassy and have shared our conversation below.
Markeisa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Everywhere we look nowadays, there’s something horrible happening around the world. I want when people see me or come across anything related to me, they’re reminded of the good things and people in this world. I want to provide hope hence the title of my book, “There’s Hope in Healing,” where I provide my recipe for healing, which came to fruition when I decided to begin my healing journey after experiencing childhood sexual abuse.
As I’m getting ready for my book signing, I realized this whole thing is bigger than me. So, I’m focused on remaining obedient and moving how I hear God telling me to move. This whole thing won’t be done as anything I’ve ever seen done before and I’m ok with that. One of the things that have stood out when people are giving reviews on my book is how they felt seen. Although I knew my book could help people, I don’t think I could’ve mentally been prepared for what I would hear. It’s important during one’s journey to healing they understand the best relationship they’ll ever work on is the one with themselves. That’s where I come in as a personal development coach. Not only have you got to see me do my own personal work you can trust as long as you’re willing to put the work in, but you’ll also get what you came to get. Which will help you out in every area of your life.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
Who is Markeisa Tassy? Well, first and foremost I’m a mother, an author, a speaker, and a Florida A&M University graduate. I advocate for mental and physical health. I’d like to say I’m PURPOSELY living my life. As a self-proclaimed storyteller over the years, I’ve been transparently telling my story. Taking people along my journey to healing on all my social media platforms. I love to highlight how I advocate for perfectly imperfect people and if you’re one that has your nose up at someone then I’d probably not be your cup of tea. Do you know why? We’ve all fallen short in life. Instead of someone kicking you while you’re down I try to be that person that can lift you up. I look at people who have used their words to make a difference Maya Angelou, Malcolm X, Mary J Blidge, Kevin Hart, and many more people have inspired me to use my words. That’s exactly what I do in my book “There’s Hope in Healing a Memoir to Healing After Childhood Sexual Abuse” which can be found on Amazon or my website markeisatassy.com.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In my journey to healing, what I was after I had not seen before. I would create a road map that mentally felt good to follow. When God gives you a vision, it’s not for everyone to understand. I would have people say you can find a better job with better pay. I took a pay cut to get to the next level. In that timeframe, I learned to budget. More than just budgeting, I paid attention to where my money was being spent so I could take care of my bills. I made money over time doing different things. I can show you better than I can tell you. Coming from someone who knew what it felt like to make a lot of money but misuse it, I knew God was seeing what I could do with a little. Now I’m living in the overflow, and it was well worth the wait.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being my authentic self. When I was going through my divorce years back, I began blogging to share my story. Over time what I learned was to say less about my ex and more about myself. Think about it; it doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong when you’re genuinely trying to move forward. You want to make sure you learned the lesson in the old situations, so you don’t have to worry about going through it again. I started public speaking and hosting my women empowerment events in that process and giving people what I needed, which was inspiration and encouragement. As a single mother trying to build generational wealth and show my son, that he can be all he can be, transparency will always, and I always mean, be my thing. I’m naturally a storyteller.
If you’d like to attend my book signing on July 8th, make sure you go get a copy of my book. If you’d like to connect with me to stay up to date, make sure you follow me on social media or subscribe to my website, so you don’t miss out. Thank you for taking the time to read a part of my story.

Known this inspirational woman for over a decade and she never ceases to amaze me. Her kind and inviting demeanor always makes it easy to relate to her even if it’s something you would never consider she inspires me to be the best me I can be just by watching her be the best of herself

God is so good!!! I met Markeisa years ago now at church. Her son was in my class for children’s church. He was always respectful and sweet. When I met his mom and started talking to her I then knew why he was that way at such a young age. Since then Markeisa has been stuck with me. I’m so proud of all of your great accomplishments and you inspire me so much! You always have and it just keeps getting better! I’m so excited for what God is doing in your life and I know it only gets better, for us both!!!! Congratulations for being a great woman, mom, daughter, sister, friend, and everything else that you are! I love you!!!!!! 😘
