Maria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
GOD. He is my one & only true boss and mentor. Without him I would not be where I am today. Great leaders I will never forget are all the amazing teachers, coaches and mentors who helped me get through my junior year in high school when I lost my beloved Dad to cancer. I wouldn’t have gotten through the last couple years of highschool without your humility and empathy. If you’re reading this, thank you so much. Always.
Maria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I studied film since grade school up to college. I also majored in behavioral sciences at Mount Saint Mary’s University as an NSLS (National Society of Leadership and Success) member. My current job is being a private teacher and behavioral therapist for students K to 12 grade with and without disabilities. Regarding my acting experience; my first performance was for a crowd of over 200 people at age seven with a fun monologue and choreography. And have gained production experience throughout the years. I am comfortably experienced in front and behind of the camera. And I have script writing experience as well. I love anything that has to do with cinematic arts. Acting, dancing, singing, and stunts are my thing! Honestly I do so much and that’s okay! If you are reading this and can’t decide what to do with your life. Just remember there’s more than just one or two professions you can pursue. You can do so much!. Truth is you will work hard and run into obstacles no matter what you choose to do. Therefore, Always believe in yourself and act on your goals. You got this!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My journey began when I was 12 years old on MYSPACE! My goodness wow! I used to create custom profiles for people on there as well by coding html codes. I began gaining a lot of amazing supporters since then. When INSTAGRAM was just launched; I was one of the first few hundreds to jump on there and start creating content! My life on social media has been long. It’s been a rollercoaster for sure but the pros always outweigh the cons. When. I first joined Instagram, I began as a private account with no face just a nice illustration as my profile picture and I would literally journal all my thoughts and experiences on there. The account was MQWriting. I genuinely looked for authentic connections, and I sure did and they continue to support me on this social media journey till this day. Eventually people asked for me to reveal my identity and I did. That’s when I created my personal account MariaQuan. And I started connecting and even COACHING people there. Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Authenticity and empathy. Connecting with my audience not just at a macro level but a micro one as well. Connecting with beautiful people has been a part of my life since my MySpace social media days. There’s so much beauty in the fruitful relationship people can create on social media within communities. My mission in life is to continue to connect with amazing souls, and make a psychosocial difference through social media. I am blessed to have met so many wonderful beautiful people and till this day I continue to do so.
