Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marcos Dj Cos. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Marcos thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I got in the DJ game kinda late compared to most DJ’s. I didnt start doing it professionally until my late 20’s. At first it was a challenge gaining some respect and notoriety from some of the other dj’s in the city. But I kept grinding and in the time I have been doing this I have reached many goals and made a name for my self . I still have alot more I want to accomplish.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Dj Cos I am a DJ born and raised in Denver, Co. I have been ingrained in the local Hip-hop scene for 10 plus years. Not only rocking shows and clubs , but also hosting radio shows and podcats dedicated to the local music scene on Denver Open Media 92.9 FM , Turnt Up TV ,Dings & Cos Radio and Geek street society radio. I also have worked numerous events in other states such as Nebraska, Illinois, Texas and Wyoming ranging from School dances to weddings and corporate events. I have also had the privilege to open for national Hip Hop artists like Too Short, Snow tha Product , The Lox , Talib Kweli , KRS one and in August of 2022 I am bringing 6 Colorado artists to Nebraska with me to open for TECH N9NE !

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me being a DJ is all about having fun with music and setting the mood for the night for ya audience. I love having the ability to make people happy or dance. I love when I play a song and you see people’s faces light up because they haven’t heard it in a long time or they have never heard it mixed the way I mixed it. Having people come up to you at the end of the night and say ” Hey man great job we had so much fun listening to you!” I love that!

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In this day and age that we live in there is so many ways to support local artists and businesses. Obviously buying tickets to shows or buying merch is one way but just as importantly sharing ,liking and interacting with them on social media goes along way too and it doesnt cost you a dime to do it. If we all supported the local guys just half as much as we do the big national guys it would make a huge difference for them.
