We were lucky to catch up with Maranda Peters recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Maranda, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
There are definitely moments where I think about what it would be like to have a regular job. Being a business owner comes with a lot of pressure, especially when your income depends on you showing up every day. There have been times where I’ve had cancellations, unexpected expenses, or just felt mentally and physically drained, and in those moments it’s easy to think, “it would be nice to just clock in, clock out, and not carry everything on my shoulders.”
One thing I’ve also realized is that as a business owner, you’re never really “off”. Even after finishing a client’s home, there’s always something else to do , whether it’s scheduling, responding to messages, invoicing, or constantly learning how to improve and grow the business. It’s not a job you can just walk away from at the end of the day, and that can feel overwhelming at times.
One moment that really stands out is during slower periods when I’ve had to adjust my schedule around cancellations while still balancing being a mom and running a household. It can feel overwhelming trying to keep everything moving at once. That’s usually when the thought of a “regular job” crosses my mind the most.
But at the same time, I always come back to why I started. Having my own business gives me a level of flexibility and control that I wouldn’t trade. I get to build something for myself and my family, create my own schedule, and grow at my own pace. I also take a lot of pride in the work that I do and the relationships I’ve built with my clients.
So while the thought does come up sometimes, I’ve realized it’s usually just in tough moments. Overall, I’m genuinely happy being a business owner, and I wouldn’t go back. The challenges are real, but so is the reward.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the owner of Gwinnett Magical Cleaners LLC, where I provide residential and janitorial cleaning services throughout Gwinnett County. I specialize in recurring maintenance cleanings, deep cleans, and move-in/move-out services, helping clients keep their homes and spaces clean, manageable, and stress free.
I started my business after realizing how much I was missing out on family time while working a regular job. I wanted something that would allow me to be more present while still providing for my family. When I first started cleaning, I didn’t always feel confident talking about it, but over time that changed as I saw the real impact of what I do. I’m not just cleaning homes, I’m helping give people back their time, whether that’s to relax, spend time with family, or focus on other priorities.
One thing that sets me apart is my attention to detail and the level of care I put into every home. I treat each space like it matters, not just another job to get through. I also focus on being reliable and easy to communicate with, because I know how important trust is when someone is letting you into their home or business.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come, especially balancing being a business owner and a mom while continuing to grow. I’ve built a business that not only supports my family, but also allows me to help others feel more at ease in their homes and workplaces. Over the years, I’ve been recognized as a Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite multiple times and a Best of Gwinnett winner, which means a lot because it reflects the trust and support of my community.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to take something off my clients plates and give them back time and peace of mind.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been local platforms like Nextdoor and Facebook mom groups. Since I focus on serving my local community, those spaces have been really valuable for connecting with people who are actively looking for someone who they can trust in their home.
Nextdoor has been especially impactful, and being recognized as a Neighborhood Favorite multiple times has helped build credibility and bring in new clients. I’ve also had great success in local mom groups on Facebook, where people are often asking for recommendations and sharing their experiences.
A lot of my growth has also come from word of mouth within those same communities. When you consistently do quality work and build trust with your clients, they naturally recommend you to others nearby. That kind of local connection has been the biggest driver for my business.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I stay in touch with my clients by being consistent, reliable, and easy to communicate with. I make sure to respond in a timely manner, confirm appointments, and keep things organized so my clients know they can count on me.
I also try to make the experience feel personal. Over time, I get to know my clients, their preferences, and even their families, which helps build a stronger level of trust. That helps me provide a more tailored service instead of a one-size-fits-all approach. If a client asks for something small that’s outside of the usual scope, I always communicate clearly about what I can and can’t do, so expectations stay realistic. Even simple things like bringing in a package if it’s delivered while I’m there can go a long way in showing I care, while still keeping clear boundaries.
For me, fostering loyalty really comes down to trust and consistency. When clients know that you’re going to show up, do quality work, and respect their space every time, it builds a strong relationship. That’s what keeps people coming back and referring others.
