We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maggie Fekete, E-RYT 500, CHC, BCHHP. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maggie below.
Hi Maggie , thanks for joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
My West Coast Bro, with a background in acting and production, asked me to view myself in a different light. He asked me to look in the mirror and begin to see myself as a photographer, videographer, and ultimately a producer. At first, I was wildly resistant, identifying mainly with the credentials I had accumulated over the years. After exiting a deep contemplation meditation on the topic, I found my brother’s recommendations to be perfectly on point, leading to a new set of standards and the involvement of Leigh Black Productions. I’ve been told that followers enjoy watching the evolution of creations and creators. All 448 (and counting) On-Demand and previous LIVE STREAM videos remain at TheGuestBungalow.com for our members to fully experience and digest. I’m most proud of our library content with Leigh Black Productions but ultimately all experiences are extremely beneficial and supportive to our members!
Growing up my father was a photographer and videographer. Although we have very different styles as artists and creators, my father always encouraged me to do my very best in these artistic fields.
I bow to my West Coast Bro and my Father for providing education and inspiring this defining moment at TheGuestBungalow.com – our electronic retreat center offering yoga, meditation, & profound wellness insights to unearth grace! Open 24/7 you can visit & stay for as long as you like! Now is the perfect time to retreat!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
In 2008, I entered the health and wellness industry as a nutritionist providing coaching and counseling. I found the vast majority of my clients to be extremely overwhelmed by life. It became crystal clear that before I could provide appropriate nutrition education and support, my clients desperately needed stress management tools and techniques. In an effort to refer to an additional practitioner, my clients unanimously requested I receive continuing education in stress reduction and relaxation to provide continuity in care. Honestly, I did not act fast on this flattering request but in 2012 I began my studies to responsibly share my yoga practice with others.
Falling in love with yoga at the turn of the century, year 2000, I solely kept my practice to myself. In times of extreme sadness and stress, I would lean on my practice of yoga to recalibrate and restore balance to my being. My initial hesitation in becoming an Experienced and Registered Yoga Teacher was that I feared in the process of sharing my practice with others I might fall out of love with the one constant tool that was always by my side when I needed it most.
To my surprise, responsibly sharing my practice with others lead to a deeper, unimaginable love for the art and the science of yoga, which includes meditation! I could not be happier to mainly identify as an Experienced and Registered Yoga Teacher 500, sharing my practice with the world LIVE STREAM and On-Demand at TheGuestBungalow.com – with options for in-person private appointments and yogic retreats per request!
I’m not the only provider at The Guest Bungalow! You will find a collection of my favorite practitioners and even adorable little yogis, helping to make TheGuestBungalow.com fun for the entire family!
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back in time, I truly would not change one thing. I’m profoundly in love with the person I am today. The collection of my education and every past experience created the me, expressing myself to you.
In 2003, I started in academia studying nursing. I quickly realized that if I was lucky, the majority of the information I was learning would never be applied to the improvement of my being. After completing two years on a track to become a Registered Nurse, I proudly pivoted to become a Nutritionist with an academic focus in Public Health and Exercise Science. I knew at least here within the College of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati, I could apply practically 100% of the information learned to the betterment of my being.
In time, accumulating additional continuing education, becoming an Experienced and Registered Yoga Teacher 500, Certified Health Coach, and Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, I truly practice and embody what I teach. I’ve never been healthier as a result and this reality truly feels wonderful. I’ve been told countless times that I radiate a positive energy that attracts individuals to TheGuestBungalow.com for LIVE STREAM, On-Demand, and In-Person offerings!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Through learned behavior, I grew up feeling that this person or situation was responsible for making me sad or angry, to provide only two examples of felt emotions.
My favorite little yogi teaches that fear begins in the head as does courage. It’s a beautiful lesson and reminder that how we feel is ultimately our choice. I undoubtedly choose courage in sharing my yoga practice with the world at TheGuestBungalow.com. My personal goal in doing so, is to positively impact the world peace movement. Daily, I work at overcoming any fear that may surface and negatively impact my productivity in spreading yoga but ultimately peace and self-love.
There is no time like the present to work towards becoming the person you’ve always dreamed of. I know without a shadow of a doubt that yoga can be extremely helpful with this transformation.
