We recently connected with Lynnette Holton and have shared our conversation below.
Lynnette, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My career chose me . I was blessed at a young age to know exactly what I wanted to be. From the days of cutting my cousin’s hair and applying my Grandmothers Avon lipstick to them, I just knew this was my future path. I have always loved making people look and feel amazing about themself . Making people happy , makes me happy.
I have owned a business for thirty years, rebranded and rebuilt twice. I believe the key to my success has been to be more than just a hairstylist to my clients. I treat them as family. They know I care about them and they trust me completely to always do my best. I am a friend, confidant and therapist. We go through life’s ups and downs together.

Lynnette, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My profession is not for the faint of heart. You have to love people.
I will stay awake at night to come up with the perfect color formula. I will study a client’s face to come up with the perfect shades, color and placement of make-up before a video or photo shoot. I am a perfectionist. This can be as stressful as rewarding. I honestly believe the saying “ Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life,” I have been beyond blessed to never have “worked” many days. Having said this, my advice to anyone choosing a career and starting a business would be, find what you love , then do that, chase your dream.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Last year cancer caught me on my blindside. I had surgery and took radiation therapy 5 days a week for months. I did my best to stay active and was blessed with the best clients who were understanding and worked with my treatment schedule. I did have to pivot and slow down . Initially I feared I would loose my business . It turned out to be one of the most successful years of my career.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I would have to say the story of my cancer journey. What I thought could be the end turned out better than I could have possibly imaged. My go to phrase has been “ I had the best worst year of my life. I have been truly blessed.
