We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lyniece Wilkes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lyniece, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Wutz Real came from a group of friends wanting to make a REAL impact in the entertainment industry. Wutz Real isn’t just a service it’s a lifestyle that everyone wants to be a part of. You hear a lot of people talking about keeping it REAL or people not REAL no more, the term Wutz Real is a statement that many love to answer. So you tell me WUTZ REAL?
Lyniece, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Wutz Real is a brand that caters to the people who needs to be heard, it’s also known to be the voice for the streetz! It is a media outlet that focuses on producing some of the greatest content in history.
Each week I sit down and talk and speak about some of the Realest things that goes on, on this planet. Topics vary.
We also advertise and market ads for clients who have small businesses or something tangible that they want to press to my audience. I’ve created a way for normal people to connect to the industry higher ups in a unique fashion. For example I’m a monized blogger on YouTube, so a lot of my content needs to replace copyrighted material with new music. So I’m able to give music artist the opportunity to be heard with celebrity content.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The feed back I get back from my viewers. How someone can get inspired and find inspiration in my story. I find a lot of people say that my journey or my story got them from a tuff time. To know that my content is effectively working is a true blessing.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The word NO can be so discouraging. The word resilience can sound so difficult following after. That’s what I’ve struggled with during this whole business venture. Ideas that are created in my mind as brilliant and looked at to others as average can be hurtful. Some how though consists have saved me plenty of times.
So quick story there’s was the radio station in Atlanta Georgia I wanted to get hired onto so bad I could almost taste it. We’ll long story short I got the position as a intern, but unfortunately didn’t make the cut. Boy was I hurt I wanted to give up and quit because this was something I wanted and missed but it was resilience that kept me going to now and I’m so glad I didn’t stop or give up because had I gave up I wouldn’t be published in the article today.
So my message to you to Radau is a simple one. That is, “whatever you want to do just do it” stay down until you come up, let’s go!
