We recently connected with Luke Guest and have shared our conversation below.
Luke, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Most people will tell you to get a job doing something you love. Growing up in the outdoors hunting and fishing, I am passionate about the outdoors. As I grew older, I knew that I wanted to take over the family business so I could surround myself with people who enjoy the same things. It has been my goal to continue the legacy of our family business and keep the business thriving.

Luke, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a second-generation family business owner of Hunters’ Hollow, Inc. in Oxford, MS. My father, Donny Guest, started the business in 1988 after working on bows in his garage as a side job. It has gone from a garage hobby business to having over 35,000 square feet. We strive to provide the newest and best products to our customers. Because we enjoy the outdoors ourselves, we use the products that we sell giving us the experience needed to help our customers succeed. We also have expanded our inventory offerings to make our business a one stop shop for our customers. We now carry everything for hunting, fishing, home, defense, casual wear, and more. We offer both an indoor gun range and indoor archery range where our customers can familiarize themselves with the products they purchase. We believe we are truly unique in having all these offerings under one roof.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We have been able to build a Facebook following of over 28,000 followers. When items like ammunition get in short supply, people from all over the country will use social media to find what they need. We have done like and share contests that have been successful, but our most successful post was in 2020 when we received some hard to find 14,000 round barrels of 5.56 ammunition. We posted them and sold out that day, but the post has been seen by over 2 million users and still gets shared from time to time today. Anytime you can get a post to go viral, you gain a tremendous number of followers. It is also important to invite all the people who react to your posts to like or follow your page.
Another thing we do is write a weekly devotional for our page and post it each Sunday morning. These devotions are fairly short starting with a Bible passage and then a few words that tie it to something outdoor related. They have become a staple of our social media. Our faith is very important to us, and we credit Jesus Christ for our success. Do not be afraid to incorporate something personal on your social media. It will allow your customers to learn more about you and connect with you in a different way.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I would have to say word of mouth is probably our best source for new clients. One example is our full-service archery department and how it has grown in the last few years. Jeremy Lipe is our archery department manager and for years has been known as one of the top technicians in the South. As more and more places have stopped offering full-service archery repair, we have new people every single day that drive from all over to have Jeremy look at their equipment. If you provide a quality service, word will spread and new customers will come.
