Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Liv Cawley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Liv, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents have been my #1 supporters since the start of my musical career. When your kid tells you they want to move to Nashville and write songs…most parents would be pretty skeptical. However, mine were so excited and supportive of my journey. Every song I’ve released, every show I’ve performed, my parents have been right there shouting my name from the rooftops.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a songwriter/singer and I’ve been making music for over 15 years. When I was 18, I graduated high school in Boston, MA and moved to Nashville, TN to attend Belmont University where I majored in songwriting and music business. I was absolutely terrified to move somewhere I had never been, and to somewhere where I knew absolutely no one. However, once I got to Nashville I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. After college I worked in music publishing for artists’ such as Rascal Flatts and Brothers Osborne. It was there I truly found my footing as my own artist/writer and I started releasing my own music. Since then, I’ve been streamed in over 100 countries and played shows all over the world. One of the things in my music career that I’m most proud of, is I’ve been a volunteer musician for Musicians On Call, where I’ve played bedside for patients in various types of hospitals. Music is healing, and I’ve been fortunate enough to see that in real life. I’ve been interviewed, and performed at, Seacrest Studios, at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital which was not only fun, but incredibly rewarding.
My main goal when I started making music was to connect to people. Music has been such an incredible resource for me personally throughout my life, and I’ve wanted to make music that not only makes people feel powerful, but helps them navigate tough times in their life.
My new EP “Best Kept Secret” is available everywhere May 22nd!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
In today’s day and age, society makes you feel like if you don’t have a million followers on social media, you aren’t successful. I’ll admit, at times I’ve fallen in to that trap as an artist as well. However, I’ll receive a message on social media from a fan that tells me a song of mine helped them through a tough time and it makes everything I’ve ever done worth it. That’s the most rewarding aspect to me as an artist. When I was younger I thought I needed to be selling out stadiums to be considered successful. However, hearing from even one person that music has helped them in any sort of way is the most rewarding feeling, and it makes everything I’ve ever done worth it.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The biggest threat to the creative world right now is AI. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe AI can be incredibly useful in certain ways, however in the creative space it has become completely detrimental. Stream your favorite independent artists, go to their shows, buy their merch, and support all of your favorite human musical acts (I feel crazy even having to specify human)
