We recently connected with Linda La Cayenne and have shared our conversation below.
Linda, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Passion, that’s all I’ve got. If I don’t fell it, it’s not gonna happen.
I ‘ve always felt a bit lost, melanchonic and sad. But I love life and the crazy people. I’ve always admired anyone who could go against the grain and have something to say to the world. I have a dream to share my art with you. You don’t have to like it, maybe it makes you feel unconfortable , maybe you don’t understand why, I don’t either. I have something to say, I have a vision I gotta share with you and with myself.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
They call me La Cayenne, doesn’t matter how old I am or where I come from. What matters is knowing which way I’m heading, after getting lost several times, although it was fun but equally dangerous. We are souls in search of emotions. If they ask me what do I do in life I answer “I envision something, or I see it, and I take photographs”, I define myself as an artist with my own style. They often stare at me. So I look at them even worse, or I smile, it depends. I was born as a performer listening to rock’ n’ roll , playing music on stage. Since my early age I have been fascinated about anyone who stand their ground to be different, I love freedom. Within my work I want to create an imbalance in the viewer, move him away from something. I didn’t study photography but I grew up with the analog camera always around, my father’s, who always did great reportage and brought home cool magazines. I have been stimulated a lot by images since I was a child, and by films. I felt the need to experiment. I started taking pictures around my travels in NYC, ghettos and queer parties. Then I continued in Italy. I recently moved to New York City and I’m ready for my next chapter.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I do not have any specific strategy but staying true to myself… I guess people like it because they can feel I am authentic… I don’t do things to get likes or to be successful, I think that is secondary… my main purpose is to express myself and be real.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I get to express my emotions in different ways which allows me to get to release some pain and get to know myself better. At the same time it’s not easy because you have to face things even if it’s real hard sometimes but I always thought that was the only was to grow and be a better version of myself.
