We were lucky to catch up with Lilly Moss recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lilly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I always loved music but taking my turn singing for family and friends at holiday gatherings prompted me to ask for vocal lessons in sixth grade, and then piano lessons in eighth. However, it wasn’t until I performed publicly for the first time at a local winter festival and found myself not wanting my set to end that I realized just how passionate I am about performing, and would love to pursue it as a career. They say if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in my life and that’s my goal.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Growing up, my parents always had music on in our home and they didn’t miss a chance to take my sister and me to a live concert. I was just three years old when I saw Taylor Swift open for Rascal Flatts, and five when I saw her open for Keith Urban! My voice has been described as a cross between Adele and Stevie Nicks, who happen to be two of my biggest musical inspirations – others include Billie Eilish, Chris Stapleton, and Jason Isbell. Country is naturally a part of who I am but I really do love, and listen to, all music genres. Other genres that I gravitate to are Pop, Indie, and Folk … but I’ve been known to bust out a fun rap without warning. Moving into the new year, the sky’s the limit! Follow me on social media to find out where I’m headed!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding part about being a musician is doing what I love to bring joy to other people. Playing music alone in my room is already so fulfilling but when I perform in public and see my music bringing friends, family, and strangers together it really adds so much more meaning for me as a musician.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The idea of playing shows for sold out stadium shows is ultimately the end goal, it’s something I wish and pray for everyday, especially the fact that MY music would have been the reason why so many people would be there. Ultimately having my music impact so many people would be a dream come true.
