We were lucky to catch up with Liliana Jaime recently and have shared our conversation below.
Liliana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I became deeply passionate about transforming and innovating the essence of Mexican restaurants. I wanted to create a space where our culture could be shared and deeply felt by anyone who walks through our doors. I truly believe that every customer deserves an unforgettable dining experience through bold and fresh flavors, exotic and flavorful margaritas, and our festive spirit. My vision is not just about serving food, it’s about creating moments where people feel something, which motivates me to continue expanding, so more people can experience Mi Cozumel.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Mi Cozumel is based on relentless passion, collaboration, daily effort, and appreciation for every single member of our team and every guest who has given our restaurants a chance. We want for everyone who visits Mi Cozumel to be highly impacted by an experience full of bright colors, flavors, and excitement that feel unforgettable. Every location is intentionally built to have its own essence, because we believe that every location we open is a living representation of the people who dine with us and the culture we cultivate together. As a family-owned business, we are truly part of the communities Mi Cozumel has the privilege of serving. This is not just where we operate, it is where we live. Our children grow up in the same schools, we attend the same events, and we share everyday life alongside our guests. That connection makes our guests feel more like family than customers and has enhanced our team’s passion for always giving you the best experience. That being said, what makes Mi Cozumel truly special is the people behind it. Our team is made up of incredibly passionate individuals who each bring something unique to the experience. Some are devoted to crafting the freshest dishes possible by carefully preparing fresh ingredients, developing new techniques, and perfecting every plate that leaves the kitchen. Others are passionate about the energy of the room and carefully curate the music and entertainment that makes every visit feel alive. And of course, there are those who take pride in perfecting every margarita, balancing flavors and presentation to create something memorable in every glass. Behind the scenes, there are countless skilled hands and creative minds working together with one shared purpose: to give you an experience that feels vibrant, thoughtful, and unforgettable. Every role matters. Every detail matters. And every person on our team sees you as family the second you walk through our doors.
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
At the beginning of our project back in 2018, we tried to understand our market, what they wanted to see and when. We adapted our products to be shown in social media to what our clientele wanted. At the beginning I managed our social media and then I realized I needed help, an specific person with more knowledge in Marketing strategies when i realized our concept was being a hit in the community and I needed more direction! I hired my sister Diana Jaime back in 2020, she is a Marketing and sales specialist with Management and financial MBA´s. that was a game changer, so i would recommend to integrate into your team a Marketing Director! Today, Mi Cozumel image and branding is everything to us!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I started in the Restaurant industry 20 years ago, first as an employee, then as a business owner but with other concepts, with other restaurant names. Something didn’t work and i had to close them, i had to move them, I had to understand I was missing something. One day my partner and I decided to risk our life savings and go ahead to give it life to Mi Cozumel, a wild and innovative Mexican restaurant concept. Yes, we were very scared people wouldn’t accept our ideas for crazy our “extra” they could be, it turns out it was exactly wat our city needed! An scape to a Mexican Island without leaving the town!
