We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Liliana Figuereo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Liliana below.
Liliana , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think to be successful, it is a simple strategy for me – do what you love. I have a genuine passion for real estate and get excited about helping people find their dream homes or achieve their investment goals. Tampa is my home and I have a deep understanding of the local market, including pricing , trends, and knowledge about different types of properties, financing options, and negotiation strategies. This expertise allows me to provide comprehensive guidance and support to my clients, ensuring a smooth and successful transaction.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up in the United States between New York City and Tampa FL. Moving to different parts of the country exposed me to different viewpoints and cultures which down the road helped me grow into my current careers, the life challenges I have faced have taught me a lot about myself and facing adversity truly makes you stronger and resilient. I am able to apply the traits of communication, honesty, integrity, flexibility, persistence, and finally determination & self-discipline to my current career. When I started in real estate everything was new, it was a challenge because the actual real estate course does not teach you how to run a business. I would go to websites of business in the area introduce myself (as a realtor) and ask for partnership for when I sold a home even though I had no clients, I also pretty much knocked on every business door and introduce myself as a realtor, while doing this some of the business would offer me jobs, I would make candy bags to introduce myself to the community as a realtor, I would reach out to other agents and ask if I can host their open houses for free, all this work with 0 pay.. it was discouraging at times, especially when weeks would pass and no one would reach out to me for real estate, it took a lot of time, positive self talk and dedication but I continued to reach out, even if I saw nothing in return and with time I got better at communicating and being able to call myself a realtor. Today, I have grown in my own skin as a realtor and can comfortably speak about the home buying and selling process clearly.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In today’s competitive real estate market, it’s so crucial to stand out from the crowd. I focus on various marketing strategies, including social media, targeted online advertising, and networking with other professionals in the industry. I believe exceptional communication skills are the most important thing I can give to my clients. I want to build rapport with clients, listen attentively to their needs, and explain the entire process of buying and selling homes. I love and always try to go above and beyond for my clients, whether within Tampa or clients moving to another City. Once I rearranged my living room as a storage facility to allow my client not to have to deal with moving delicate items and eliminating a fee that goes with it. I literally went to home depot and purchased her moving supplies and a cleaning crew all at my cost as my client was eight months pregnant! Real Estate can be a life adventure and wanted to give as much assistance as possible to ensure her pregnancy went smoothly. The end result we had a successful closing and she celebrated the birth of her child!

Any advice for managing a team?
I have been fortunate to manage teams in different corporate organizations and the key to keep morale high is having productive, committed, and creative teams. I have three objectives when developing high morale teams.
First it’s important to get to know the people you work with. It is paramount as a leader to understand individual interests, goals, and especially challenges. This will help you to better support them and instill a positive work culture.
Second, be open and transparent. Always keep your team informed about changes and decisions in a timely way and be
open to feedback and suggestions.
Third, celebrate successes. When your team achieves a goal, take the time to acknowledge the successful outcome. This will help to kick up morale and show your appreciation for their hard work.
This philosophy has carried over to my real estate business transactions and helped me build strong relationships with my vendors and other real estate professionals and most importantly my buyers and sellers who I communicate with on a daily basis.
