We recently connected with Leslie Barrera and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?

To me having my family and friends support means a lot. Since starting Eterna Primavera, my flower arrangement business, they have been supporting me and encouraging me. My parents are the ones who ask if I need help in any shape or form and when I am done with an arrangement they are the first ones to complement it. My friends are always recommending my work to others.

Leslie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Leslie. I am from Houston, Texas who is attending college in Illinois. I am double majoring in business administration and economics with a concentration in entrepreneurship and a minor in sports students. I have been part of the Principia Women’s Soccer team for 4 years and have been captain for 3 years. I started my business in December 2023. My business name is Eterna Primavera, its handcrafted eternal flowers and fresh flowers made into arrangements for any occasion, My business is focus on making customers feel loved and satisfied. I’m proud of the product that helps customers have unforgettable moments and memories.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?

Starting this business require some investment just to get it started. All the investment going into buying the materials. In order to get the initial investment, I had to save and work to collect the money. I also was able to get some financial support from my family.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

At the moment, I am facing a resilense phase. My business is till in the beginning faces where I am trying to reach out and advertise heavily to get exposure. At this state there is more investment that revenue, so being able to manage my financial of the business and being able to attract more customers. The other resilience moment in my business journey is being able to balance school and my business at the same time.
