LeO , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is found in living your life with authenticity, persistence, and inspiration, while also cherishing your neighbor as you love yourself. My brand, Loveur, was born from the idea of “loving your neighbor and loving yourself,” a concept beautifully displayed within the music and arts festival community. Allowing these elements to course through you on the voyage of life is akin to the way each stitch and sequin adorns my designs. Success unveils when you embrace and illuminate your individuality.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m LeOndra, but you can call me LeO. My brand is Loveur, and I design lifestyle apparel for free spirits like you, where living freely is part of the design. Loveur is a contemporary clothing brand inspired by music and arts festivals. It’s not just about who you are, but who you’re meant to be!
I started Loveur after an unforgettable experience at my first Coachella festival – an event that truly left a lasting impact. As I chose outfits, I aimed to stand out, but I noticed something surprising: several other women were wearing the same clothes. This got me thinking: “Our individuality deserves unique clothing.” This realization fueled my desire to create clothes that reflect the unique life I’m destined to live.
Just like fingerprints, each Loveur design is one-of-a-kind. Similarly, no two individuals are on the same life journey; while they might share similar paths, their uniqueness sets them apart. Everyone has a specific purpose, which has driven me to shape a life and craft clothing that echo this principle.
I began my sewing journey at seven years old when my mother taught me. However, during college, a sewing class deeply resonated with me. I was so captivated that I asked for a sewing machine as a gift. However, the demands of accounting studies put it on hold. My sewing machine and design aspirations stayed dormant until Coachella 2017 rekindled my passion. This prompted me to enroll in Fashion School that fall. Since then, I’ve committed to living in line with my life’s purpose and inspiring others to do the same.
Being recognized in Essence Magazine as the best Black Girl Magic at Coachella 2019 was a pivotal moment for Loveur. Our philosophy centers on self-love, extending kindness to others, and living a life true to oneself. Sustainability is woven into our fabric through upcycled collaborations, showcasing both social and environmental responsibility as advocates for slow fashion. We also champion altruism through fashion exhibitions and fine arts education initiatives in children’s hospitals and after-school programs. Loveur’s ultimate goal is to stand out as a contemporary brand in the global music festival scene.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is having a way to express yourself. It’s even better when that expression connects with and speaks to others in their own creative ways. Being creative lets you tell a story without needing words. Seeing the feelings your story brings out in others is really heartwarming. The creative process is a journey that helps you grow and learn about yourself. It encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and face challenges beyond what you thought possible. Creativity is more than just a job; it’s a way of life that adds beauty to the world.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Working together and learning have been the foundation of my journey to build a strong reputation in my field. It all began by figuring out who I am, what my brand represents, and what I’m trying to achieve. Once I had that clarity, I set off on a path of growth.
Getting involved in different programs for entrepreneurs, kindly offered by my community, played a big role. These programs gave me a solid base to shape my brand, define my vision, and boost my confidence. As I took part in these programs, I realized the strength of teamwork and the great advantages of always learning.
Teaming up with fellow business owners and experts in the field was crucial. It opened doors to lots of knowledge, experience, and new viewpoints. This spirit of working together not only helped me understand things better but also introduced me to fresh ways of innovating and growing. I also got to connect with others who shared my passion and dreams of making a difference in the market.
Education was equally important. These programs gave me practical skills, insights, and strategies to navigate the complex world of business. It was like a journey of discovering my strengths and working on my weaknesses. With all this new knowledge, I could make smarter choices that matched my brand’s identity and goals.
In the end, teamwork and learning went hand in hand. By joining forces with others and always learning, I not only made my brand stronger but also contributed to the growth of the entrepreneurial community as a whole.
