We were lucky to catch up with Leanna DeBellevue recently and have shared our conversation below.
Leanna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I try and stay away from cliches but there is one that has changed the course of our business and is one of the things I attribute to our success, and that is “you become like the five people you spend the most time with.” I have found that success is truly found in surrounding yourself with people who have different ideas, different strengths and who are driven to succeed. Finding people who are forward thinking has changed the trajectory of my company. Success is a series of ups and downs, wins and loses. Having people who are there to champion you throughout the entire process is one of the many components need to be successful. If you are around people who are rooted in fear, scarcity and small minded thinking I believe it becomes almost impossible to succeed.

Leanna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Our brand is based on doing things in a unique way, we don’t subscribe to most of the “shoulds” in the marketing industry. Your marketing should be as personal as possible. We work with clients all over the world to help them create branding messages that resonate with their ideal clients while still being authentic and highlighting the benefits they bring to the table. Our approach is not about making every post go viral, or buying likes to look like your brand is more successful that it may be. The goal for us is to produce a consistent stream of clients who are loyal and who appreciate the services or products provided. It is about building a sustainable system that our clients can count on over the course of time. We don’t lock our clients into long term contracts, we want clients to choose to stay with our agency because they are seeing results. We are transparent with our results and we are proactive as the market changes so do our strategies.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Morale is something we take very seriously because once it is lost it becomes extremely hard to rebuild. I believe that morale is directly correlated into people feeling valued and understanding the impact they are making on the company. One way we are able to maintain high morale is finding out how people like to be recognized. For some it is verbal recognition, for others it is a gift card to a local coffee shop. By understanding how people like to be validated it keeps them feeling valued.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There have been several books that have recently impacted our management style and supported my entrepreneurial journey. Here are a few of the ones I felt have been the most insightful: Straight-Line Leadership by Dusan Djukich, CEO to CVO by Joel Strom and The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Peale.
