We were lucky to catch up with April Kristine recently and have shared our conversation below.
April , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In my experience, whether it be, starting a youtube channel, launching a merch line, launching my social media services, the success I’ve experienced has ,of course, come from hard work and high standards, but most importantly my community!
There is a passion and a drive one has to have to WANT to be successful. A dream will not work for you. I have always found that if i speak to myself as if the dream is already mine, it will be.
But also, with that, My community has been such a huge support to me. I do my absolute best to help where I can, show grace and spread kindness. In return I meet amazing people who are also working towards their wildest dreams. More often than not, there is some way we can support and encourage one another. That has led me to the most success.
Gaining a following or a clientele can all start from being genuinely who you are, wanting it bad enough that you work hard for it, and supporting a community that will in turn support you as well.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those of you who do not know me. I am April Kristine, a Social Media Manager and Content Creator!
My journey started on Youtube in 2020 (@April Kristine). I fell in love with creating video content, learning new editing techniques and sharing my story online.
About a year later, I had the urge to create and launch a line of merch! With the help of a few fellow hard working, small business women, (graphic designer, photographer, and online clothing store) we were able to launch in August of 2021 and sell out in a matter of days!
It was at this time I really immersed myself in the San Antonio community. I love trying new and upcoming coffee stops around the city. As well as, Exploring fun inexpensive experiences with my two little girls. That is the kind of content you can find on my instagram and tik tok (@april.kristine)
Currently, I have recently launched my social media services! Over my time of content creating, and searching for new exciting business to visit around the city. I learned what a consumer looks for and the importance of an online presence when starting a small business.
My goal now is to help small businesses build an appealing, informative online presence for their customers. I want to help them gain more traffic through their social media reach. Social media can be an amazing tool to find community and your ideal customer, if you know how to utilize it.
What sets me apart from other social media managers is I pride myself in working specifically with small businesses, who may not have the biggest budget for marketing. It’s my hope that we grow together. I also have experience with web design, content creation, photography, and all of the social media platforms there are to keep up with, so I am able to handle all of the demands it takes to run a business page.
In conclusion, I just genuinely love seeing small businesses succeed. Knowing how my services can directly help someone reach their goals is extremely fulfilling to me.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I would say no matter what dream I am chasing at the time, surprisingly enough YouTube has been my main source of information on how to get started.
When I didn’t know which website to use to launch my merch line. I watched several videos comparing all of the options available. If I was trying to learn a new editing style, I would turn to Youtube for a step by step tutorial.
Even now when managing all of the social media pages I have. Youtube has really come in handy for professional advice, as well as how to keep my clients informed and make my work load all the bit slighter. I was introduced to some amazing tools such as, wix.com, honeybook, editing software, photo sharing platforms, ways to keep important login information secure. All of the information you need is out there on a free platform, it just takes time to research.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth and social media promotion has always been the most effective way for me to grow my platforms and services. I always share my newest ventures online, and try to keep everyone in the know of my goals. You’d be surprised at the amount of people willing to support you!
Since starting my Social media services, all of my clientele have come from referrals. I put so much time and effort into how I present myself and my services. I want people to know I am organized, possess social skills, and am not afraid of time consuming hard work. I also pride myself on how cohesive I keep the business pages that I manage. Therefore, when a potential new client comes across my work, it is appealing to them, and they my become interested in joining my team.
Once a potential new client has inquired, I have several professional packets that I keep handy to informs them on who I am, and the services I provide, as well as gives them a step by step outline of my goals when becoming their social media manager. It is important for me to be as professional and organized as possible, and keep myself as easily accessible to them, so they know they can trust me with their business.
