We recently connected with LeAnn Parker and have shared our conversation below.
LeAnn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I named my business ‘Silvertooth Home’ after the neighborhood that I live in south Kansas City along with my husband and three children. I found it fitting to name the creative work that I do after the home that we live as it is the place where I am inspired and daily practice.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always been in the world of business and the arts.
Starting in musical arts, I founded and lead a successful music education business the last 20 years (and still going). More recently working in the visual arts through Silvertooth Home where I style for publications, individuals and businesses. My background running a music business as well as growing up surrounded by the arts has greatly build into the success in the world of interior styling.
My styling features through Silvertooth Home include a variety of mediums such as floral arrangements, tablescapes, and culinary presentations. This year I began offering styling workshops such as wreath making, centerpiece styling, and cookie painting for those interested in adding touches of style into their own spaces and places.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My business has always grown the most consistently through personal recommendations. Paid advertising and other self-promotions have been tools at times but there is nothing quite as powerful as a client who genuinely loves and shares my work. This has proven to be the most consistent and reliable source for my new clients.
I always keep this in mind by taking the time to share the services or purchases of small businesses that I love. I know that while my personal recommendation costs me nothing, it holds incredible value to the small business who receives it. My own business is a life-long testament to that.
Gifting a personal recommendation to a business can be as simple as a “like” on instagram, text to a friend, or mention in conversation when complimented on the service or product received.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The way I build reputation is to show up and produce excellence.
My goal is to strive for excellence with every project, every time. I consider each client as if they are my only client and work on each project as if it was my last project. Just to be clear, this is not the same as perfectionism, quite the opposite. Limitations and imperfections often foster greater creativity in my work. Excellence is doing the absolute best with even limited and less-than-ideal resources.
I can’t think of a better way to build a reputation than my work speaking for itself. And when it does, what a great honor.
