We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lauren Crim a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share a customer success story with us?
The first customer is the hardest customer. Once we successfully secured our first customer, and all subsequent customers, they all contributed to the success of the brand by recommending improvements to our business model, including subtle changes in packaging, product formulation, UPCs, ingredients incorporated into the labeling, recommending new potential customers, as well as where best to merchandise our products based upon unique retail channel requirements.
Today, our products can be found in multiple retail locations, including high-end gifts stores, specialty markets and wineries. Our long-term strategy to grow our business incorporates introducing our product line to upscale grocery, general merchandise and apparel retail channels.

Lauren, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey started with my love of travel and Europe. I attended Universite de Versailles in France and developed an interest and love of wines, both from historical perspective to wine regions and different styles of grape varieties. This led to my interest in building a career around wine and achieving my Certified Sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
My company, Eau Du Vin, was born with the idea that we would provide products and services to upscale consumers, highlighting fun and unique ways to enjoy wine outside of the vineyards.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Through my love of wine and professional wine credentials previously earned, I knew I wanted to start a business that would involve the wine industry. I created my company to provide a way to celebrate wine culture outside of the vineyard through a line of Health & Beauty Care products and upscale home-related gifts. This is my passion, and I knew I would be successful, but with any new entrepreneurial business, when you take something from an idea to a product, you learn through trial and error, constructive criticism, customers ideas and input. My company and product offerings have morphed into what they are today, demonstrating that my initial ideas have become a reality and have improved through continuous innovation and ideas provided to me through my loyal customer base.
You have to be resilient and accept criticism because your brand will grow, as
little ideas become big wins when you listen to your customers and make changes based upon recommendations from them, as well as family and friends.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I take a very personal approach to identifying and targeting new customers based upon my product’s niche in each retail trade channel.
I grow my clients one at a time and focus on my relationships with each potential new client and effectively communicate the successes that we have had in similar retailers, thus providing a high level of confidence of success in our brand with each new customer.
